Exterior

This gleaming left-hand drive 2.2 E presents in stunning restored condition. Still maintaining its original colour scheme of Light Ivory over black, the finish is to a very high standard throughout with a deep and uniform shine across every panel. Restorative work commenced in 2011 and lasted several years, with every aspect of the car ultimately being addressed. The goal of the restoration was to retain as many original parts as possible whilst returning the 911 to as-new condition. The result is what you see here, a beautiful ‘matching numbers’ example in the correct and timeless colour combo of white over black, ready to be driven and very much enjoyed.

Interior

The as-new theme continues inside with tastefully upgraded 911S-style sports seats trimmed in unmarked black corduroy with pristine bolsters. At the rear of the car the seats retain their original spec leatherette facings, again all in perfect order. Glancing across the basketweave fascia you’ll find a pristine dash with no cracks or sun damage, immaculately presented original switchgear, and a stunning leather-rimmed steering wheel. The headlining and sun visors are also in excellent unworn condition, and in the footwells the black flecked carpets are spotless. The under-bonnet area is equally fresh; lifting the carpet reveals a perfect spare wheel, tool roll and jack.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The original numbers-matching 2.2-litre flat six erupts into life first turn of the key and idles up to temperature without fuss. The engine bay has an immaculate appearance with no signs of any damage or previous poor repair. Out on the road the car is a real joy to drive, the engine pulling just as it should and the gearbox as precise as ever. Clearly the restoration was not just skin deep as the car still retains all that 911 tightness and fluency so often lost after a mediocre rebuild. Recent maintenance includes a major service and check over carried out in June 2020.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The 911 sits on immaculate Fuchs wheels wrapped in a matching set of Bridgestone tyres, all with plenty of tread left. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition, bringing the car to a halt quickly and in a straight line. The brakes were stripped and cleaned alongside the last service in June 2020 when the brake fluid was also changed.

History File

This striking 911E was originally sold through Porsche North America as confirmed by the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity included in the paperwork. The CoA further details a production completion date of April 1970 although the original maintenance book still with the car shows it to have been supplied to its first owner, Mr Laskey, in March 1971. Maintenance was initially completed by Audi Porsche dealer Vasek Polak in California.

Registration documents on file indicate that the 911 remained in California with just a couple of owners for many years before its purchase by a Dutch Porsche enthusiast in the early 2000s. The car was enjoyed in its original state for several years in the Netherlands and was very well maintained as detailed in several significant invoices within the accompanying paperwork. However, in 2011, a new owner embarked on a total restoration using the finest Dutch Porsche specialists. This is fully detailed with a raft of invoices and a CD illustrating the work completed. The restoration was carried out over a few years and shortly after completion the car was sold to the UK where it was offered for sale by well-regarded marque specialists, Paragon Porsche.

The car has been used carefully in fine weather since arriving in the UK to help preserve its amazing condition. It has also been well maintained during this time with specialist invoices detailing all recent service work. The last service was carried out in June 2020 and also included a gearbox oil change, brake fluid change, full inspection and road test.
