The team at Hilton & Moss are delighted to be handling the sale of this very charming 1970 Ford Capri 3000 GT.
This exact car is a particularly special example as it appeared on the Channel 4 TV show ‘Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast’ where it was driven to RAF wittering by the two hosts. The car itself belongs to none other than Jamie Oliver MBE himself and is for sale exclusively with Hilton & Moss directly from Jamies private collection.
The very early Capri models were fitted with smaller displacement 2.0 litre and below powerplants but in September 1969 the 3000 GT was released. Fitted with a 3.0 litre Essex Ford V6 the 3000 GT was the fastest Capri to date with a healthy 138BHP. A four speed synchro box is mated to the V6 engine providing a smooth gear change and disc brakes were fitted to the front of the 3000GT for increased stopping power.
The Ford Capri was and still is an incredibly popular motor car with just under 1.9 million vehicles sold throughout the cars 18-year production run between 1968 and 1986. The Capri was also a formidable motorsport contender with great success in the Touring Car Championships throughout the years.
This particular Capri is presented in very good condition and after receiving a sympathetic restoration prior to the previous keeper acquiring the vehicle. At this time the car was fully resprayed from its original colour Amber Gold Metallic to Ermine White. The car does show minor age-related defects as expected on a 1970 vehicle. The car drives superbly and has been checked over and tweaked by our experienced in-house technicians.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
