AMC Javelin 290 1968

General description : 290 V8, PS, PB, ORIGINAL INTERIOR & CORRECT PAINT, BELIEVED TO BE ORIGINAL MILES

A top of the line, first-year 1968 AMC Javelin with its original V8 and correct color combo. Yes, something this significant can still be this affordable.
AMC always did things a little differently, and for those who pay attention, the rewards can be huge. For example, this is the first year for the now-legendary Javelin coupe. Add in the SST premium package and Kenosha's legendary low production numbers, and you've got a cool classic example of rare American muscle (only around 26,000 were produced.) But the coupe's desirability goes beyond just rarity. The original shade of Turbo Silver has been treated to a professional respray that gives this precious the metal a superb shine in sunlight. The black vinyl top does an amazing job of tapering into the rear fender and creating a hint of flying buttress. The whole design feels European inspired, and you can easily see this level of detail thanks to the outstanding condition of the panels. The brightwork looks excellent, with the wide front and rear bumpers integral to the design more than just about any other '60s coupe. Plus, the factory Mag wheels are always a nice touch.
You're going to love showing off this interior. It starts with the Strata Stripe seating. Not only are those buckets exceptionally comfortable, but also the color does a great job of coordinating with the exterior black and silver for a true uniform appearance. Plus, the carpets, floor mats, door panels, and center console are all a nice deep black. The final coordinating piece are the cool arrow wood inserts on the doors that look great with the AMC woodgrain on the three-spoke steering wheel.
For how great and original the interior and exterior look, it should be no surprise that the engine bay has been treated with the same level of factory-correct care. In fact, you're even looking at the numbers-matching 290 cubic-inch V8. But this is far more than just an original block. Look at the air cleaner, carb, and other components. We suspect you'll find plenty of pieces installed by AMC nearly 50 years ago. With the tidy wires, good hoses, and a fresh looking turquoise paint on the valve covers, everyone at the car show will believe you have an immaculate survivor...and that pretty true! We even believe the exceptionally low 18,688 miles might be actual. This rare AMC is great cruising friend as it fires up easily and gives off a satisfying exhaust note. There's even a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and the grip of BF Goodrich T/As to make you love taking this one out on a whim.
Complete with owner's manual, it will be hard to find a classic coupe that looks this good and is rare enough to draw serious attention, even if you paid double the price. Call today!!!
