General description : 1953 Bentley R-Type Factory Left-Hand DriveThis beautiful 1953 Bentley R-Type is a highly collectible factory left-hand drive example and an excellent driver. Dark red and cream two-tone paint with burgundy interior. This ever-desirable Bentley is powered by a straight-6 engine linked to an automatic transmission. The car runs and drives excellent and is ready to be enjoyed by its next loving caretaker. A comfortable ride with smooth acceleration, great handling for a car of its size and good braking. Straight body panels, good gaps, and a solid undercarriage. The paint does show some minor bubbling and flaws in a few areas. Extremely clean oxblood seats, beautiful burl wood dash and flip down trays. This car was clearly well maintained, pampered, and loved by its previous owner. This luxurious piece of automotive history is not to be overlooked.

About Bentley
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.

Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930

In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
