GMC General 1971

General description : Up for sale in the Houston showroom is a true survivor, 1971 GMC Sierra Grande 1500. The C series pickup was Chevrolet and GMC's full-size pickup truck line from 1960 until 1999 in the United States. The aging C/K light-duty pickup truck was replaced with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra names in 1999. The Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD heavy-duty pickup trucks followed. Until this time the names Silverado and Sierra were used to identify the trim level of the C/K trucks. Several changes occurred for the trucks for sale in 1971. First came another new grille design that people referred to as the "egg crate" for the GMC truck grill. Second, an additional trim package was introduced: Sierra. These packages consisted mostly of comfort features and nicer interiors with more padding and insulation in the cab for wind noise. The carpet, chrome trim, upper and lower side molding and tailgate trim were additions that people loved. 1971 was the first year for AM/FM radios factory installed instead of special order and finally, the front brakes on all light-duty trucks were switched from drum brakes to disc brakes, resulting in much less brake fade under heavy use. Now with this being a survivor, all these amazing factory components that helped revolutionize the truck scene has not been touch, but only maintained. And meticulously maintained I must say. This is one of the finest examples of the time when a truck was a truck, not a sissy mobile. The Sierra Grande for sale was named after the Volcano is eastern most part of the USA and for good reason. When this truck hit, the Sierra's out sold the Cheyenne's hands down. Sales exploded for these you could say and they only better option you could get was the Sierra Highlander and good luck finding one of those. Options on this magnificent 1971 GMC Sierra Grande 1500 include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio, Cassette, Cruise Control, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Rally Wheels, Seatbelts, Tilt Wheel, Vinyl Interior and Numbers are Matching . About GMC
Did you ever mistake a Chevy pick up for GMC? No wonder as those have been virtually identical apart from the grill and logo since the 20's.
The difference is Chevrolet trucks were marketed towards private users, while GMC was intended for commercial use, so it's more about market segmentation than anything else.
