Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Tribute 454 V8 1970

General description : Description
Admit it, you've been looking enviously at cars just like this at all the cruise nights and car shows for years, haven't you? Somehow big block Chevelles speak to almost everyone, with their ideal combination of brute power, comfort, and stylish good looks. This incredibly cool 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 Tribute is exactly the kind of car that populates those local shows and that you hear hammering down the road late at night. Isn't it time you started joining in on the fun?
Everybody seems to have a red or blue Chevelle, but this one dressed in sinister Black Metallic paint really stands out and makes its presence felt with authority. Especially when paired with the painted-on silver SS stripes, an updated look on a timeless color combination that gives the brutal big block Chevelle high-performance curb appeal, so you had better forget about keeping a low profile when you're out on the road. The paint on this one is very nice, with great panel alignment, excellent gaps, and attention to detail that says it was more than just a quickie job. The silver SS stripes are mandatory on a car like this, and they've been blended in under the clear for a seamless look that will last forever. A functioning cowl induction hood with hood pins gives it that aggressive look that you've always admired, while the SS badges and emblems let everyone know this isn't some average grocery-getter. Shiny chrome provides good contrast to the black paint, with the big bumpers fore and aft serving as bookends for the aggressive A-body, and wheel arch and drip rail brightwork emphasizing the car's curves.
The handsome black vinyl interior has been beautifully restored for an updated take on the factory look, featuring high-end, sporty Corbeau bucket seats with quilted diamond-cut inserts, a matching rear seat, plush black carpets, and reproduction door panels that all work to make it an inviting, comfortable place to do the serious business of driving. A fancy billet shifter topped with an 8-ball splits the front seats and manages the Tremec 5-speed manual below transmission below, a look that shouts high performance in every way. The original gauges were swapped in favor of Auto Meter units that fit directly into the factory bezel, and the digital/analog instruments light up red for a very sporty look ahead of the driver. Amenities include cold Vintage A/C, a Sony AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo, and a sporty, leather-wrapped billet steering wheel, adding comfort to go along with the monster that lives under the hood. The dash pad is in great shape and free of cracks, the headliner above is taut, and the back seat provides ample room for three of your friends. Out back, the spacious trunk has been finished with soft carpeting and has enough room to accommodate most travel plans.
Powering this '70 Chevelle is a beefy, built-up 454 cubic inch big block V8 that's been stroked out to 496 giant cubes according to the owner, and it packs a huge punch. Dressed to impress, it features supercool retro-style Chevrolet valve covers and a matching open-element air cleaner, and all the components, wiring, and plumbing are neatly organized around the big block. It also offers an Edelbrock aluminum intake, a giant ProForm 950CFM 4-barrel carb, as well as the requisite MSD ignition system. The cowl induction hood feeds the open-element air cleaner and the entire build has a slick look to it that's very appealing, right down to the shiny inner fenders and those black valve covers. Hedman long-tube headers add a few extra ponies and definitely bolster the big block's robust torque curve, and the soundtrack is fantastic thanks to a set of Pypes Violator mufflers underneath. Twist the key and it settles almost instantly into an easy idle, and throttle response is right now quick, so there won't be many vintage cars that can beat you on the roll. The chassis is extremely clean with that X-pipe exhaust system, more-than-capable Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, and a heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end. The stance is set thanks to a adjustable A-arms in the front, and coilovers out back, while power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors ensure a great ride every time out. Flashy alloy wheels perfectly complement the electric bodywork and wear a set of 235/45/17 front and 295/40/18 rear Nitto radials that finish the killer look.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
