Land Rover Defender 110 1985

General description : In the automotive community, the word 'ultimate' gets thrown around quite a bit. Ultimate pro-tourers… Ultimate sports cars… Ultimate street rods… But perhaps no niche owns the word better than the off-roading crowd. 'Ultimate' is certainly a fitting descriptor for this incredible Land Rover Defender! Maxing out a fantastic restoration with some of the most hardcore trail elements in existence, this 110 would be right at home shuttling the queen to emergency tea time during the global apocalypse. Fortunately for our purposes, and the sake of continued human existence, it's also an exceedingly neat classic that's sure to turn heads wherever it goes!
AWARD-WINNING RESTORATION
The story of classic Land Rovers is much akin to the stories of classic Jeeps and Land Cruisers: it can be hard to find one that hasn't been driven hard and parked in the elements for most of its life. That means when you do find the rare example, like this choice Defender, it's always best to drum up a professional, ground-up restoration. This 110's well documented reboot, perfected by UK Land Rover specialists Arkonik, looks great dressed in a formal coat of Santorini Black two-stage. That rich Rover pigment has been accented with a roster of hand-picked details. And today, this truck rolls as an award-winning classic that's tough on the trail and brash on the boulevard!
Speaking of tough, a massive First Four skid plate stands guard under a buff Warn Zeon 12-S winch that centers Spydura Synthetic Rope in a glossy Air-Con Extended Tubular Bumper. Those A Bar-style tubes, finished with bright LEDs and swivel recovery eyes, bend around upgraded torches, which align with a silver-trimmed KBX grille and color-keyed KBX headlight finishers. An armored hood tilts KBX Hi-Force Wing Top intakes ahead of a dark-tint greenhouse that's capped with a full Front Runner rack. That rack, lined with a Front Runner ladder and LED lighting, complements a boxy profile that's thoughtfully detailed with LED markers, silver hinges and brilliant blue emblems. That timeless fuselage centers 'fire and ice' style side steps between short flaps, tasteful flares and armored rockers. And at the back of the truck, a sturdy NAS step frames bright LEDs and a full-size, swing-away spare tire that's wrapped in a stylish Arkonik cover.
ROVER POWERED ROVER
Most serious rigs employ some form of serious power, and this 110 is no exception. Simply dubbed the Rover V8, the truck's 3.5 liter, all-aluminum mill, originally a GM design, is both utilitarian and efficient. For the sake of reliability, modifications remain minor, with a 4-barrel Weber and lightweight Edelbrock Performer intake joining a polished air cleaner, Ferroflex plug wires and a modern AC compressor. Power flows through a proven LT85 5-speed to requisite, lever-controlled four-wheel-drive. That drivetrain hangs in a Britpart Cellular Dynamic Suspension, which plays well with lucid power steering. Stops are provided by power-assisted discs and drums. Exhaust flows through tubular manifolds to mild steel pipes, a Britpart muffler and a polished tip. And at the corners of the floor, attractive Kahn Design 1983 wheels twist 265/65R18 BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/As.
SURPRISINGLY OPULENT
When you step up to this level, SUVs are all about combining the best elements of comfort and utility. That's why it's so refreshing to hop in the cab of this purposeful but nicely appointed Land Rover. The stars of the show are five linen threaded leather buckets that offer switch-activated heat for the front passengers. Opposite those high-back thrones, a monochromatic dash hangs restored factory telemetry between cool air conditioning, a Quartz Clock and a sophisticated Alpine audio system. That dash flows into leather door panels, which reflect dressed shifters and a locking console in a full suite of anodized hardware. The driver rules the trail through a stylish Evander steering wheel. And choice LED lighting puts the icing on the cake.
Ultimate trail walker, or ultimate cruiser that's guaranteed to start a conversation? We'll let you decide, but either way there's no arguing the appeal of Land Rover's quintessential off-roading creation. Well-built and ready to conquer the world, it's a cool and equally exclusive collectible. So, what are you waiting for? Step in and step up to the big leagues!

About Land Rover
The rugged tale of Land Rover, born from the spirit of exploration and inspired by the legendary Jeep. Let's embark on a journey through the history of Land Rover, tracing its evolution and the iconic models that have conquered both off-road terrain and urban landscapes.

Act 1: The Birth of Land Rover (1948)
In the aftermath of World War II, Rover saw the need for a versatile, go-anywhere vehicle that could handle the demands of post-war life. Drawing inspiration from the Jeep, Maurice Wilks, Rover's chief designer, and his brother Spencer, Rover's managing director, conceptualized the first Land Rover. Launched in 1948 at the Amsterdam Motor Show, the Series I Land Rover was an instant hit, boasting simplicity, durability, and unparalleled off-road capabilities.

Act 2: Series Land Rovers (1950s-1970s)
The Series Land Rovers became the backbone of Land Rover's lineup. The Series II in 1958 and Series III in 1971 refined the design and introduced more creature comforts, while preserving the brand's commitment to off-road prowess. These models were workhorses on farms, military deployments, and adventurous expeditions.

Act 3: Range Rover (1970)
In 1970, Land Rover expanded its horizons with the introduction of the Range Rover. Combining luxury with off-road capabilities, the Range Rover defined a new segment of high-end, go-anywhere vehicles. Its success marked the beginning of Land Rover's transition from utilitarian workhorses to premium off-road vehicles.

Act 4: Discovery and Defender (1980s-1990s)
The 1989 launch of the Land Rover Discovery marked the brand's foray into family-oriented SUVs, blending off-road prowess with on-road comfort. Meanwhile, the iconic Land Rover Defender, the spiritual successor to the original Series Land Rovers, continued to capture the hearts of enthusiasts with its rugged design and unyielding capabilities.
