Pontiac Tempest 400 CID V8 1965

General description : Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to offer this super clean 1965 Pontiac Tempest (GTO tribute). This Tempest has a great history with journals dating back to the original owner. Between the healthy powerplant and the sharp body lines, this car is truly a very well-executed example of a tribute car. Under the hood of this beauty is a Pontiac 400 CID V8 that was rebuilt roughly 8,000 miles ago. Thanks to that fresh rebuild, the engine pulls well and provides the muscle that GTOs are known for. Sending the power rearward is a rebuilt four-speed Muncie transmission with about 1,000 miles on it. The transmission shifts well through the gears providing the driver with just the right amount of feedback without being too stiff through the new Hurst shifter. Other new driveline components include the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. The rear end on the car is a ten-bolt geared to a 3.08 ratio which provides plenty of top end for highway cruising. The engine is kept cool by a new aluminum radiator which was fitted very recently. Overall, this powertrain is very well put together and certainly provides the driver with an authentic muscle car feel. Upon entering the cabin of this beauty, the driver will be greeted by a clean red vinyl interior that complements the red paint nicely. Power steering and brakes allow for better control of the car while also enhancing comfort. Continuing with comfort, the car features a modern air conditioning system which blows cold and makes this car a pleasure to drive on both fair weather days, and hot summer days. Functioning heat will keep the occupants comfortable in the wintertime also. Tucked in the dash is an AM/FM radio that allows for an enjoyable audio experience. Overall the interior of this sweet ride is put together nicely just like the rest of the car. Moving outward, the exterior of the car is finished in a deep Guards Red paint that looks very sharp and gives the car just the right amount of class and aggressiveness to make for an excellent weekend cruiser. Supporting all four corners of this sweet ride are Cragar chrome rally wheels wrapped in almost new BFG radial tires. Overall, this car is a very solid tribute car done the right way that will serve the new owner well.
