Cadillacs have been known for large engines and this one is no excuse with a 425 cubic inch V8 under the hood. A TH-400 automatic transmission transfers the power to the pavement with ease providing a nice smooth drive and ride. Cadillac celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1977 and introduced a smaller version of the DeVille for its fifth generation. A higher roofline was key to the new design, it resulted in the car being over nine inches shorter, four inches narrower, and weighing in a half ton lighter than the previous model year. This design change also resulted in a more headroom, legroom, and a larger trunk. The weight reduction was key, as it helped improve fuel economy and emissions to meet the new regulations made by the Federal Government. The copper paint on this 77’ Cadillac is believed to be original as is the copper colored leather upholstery. Both the paint and interior have aged well, as there are minimal signs of wear. The odometer reads 37,410, which is believed to be the actual mileage on the car.
