Chevrolet Camaro LS3 6.2L V8 1969

Allmän beskrivning : The first thing that popped in to our heads when we laid eyes on this well-built Camaro was: 'Some cars just drip presence.' Now, that's all well and good unless 'initial draw' doesn't equal 'ultimate impression'. For a car to be truly desirable, that presence must be founded on quality mechanicals. Well, we can certainly attest that this panther has colossal merit to back up its copious presence thanks to a massaged LS3, a tough Tremec 5-speed and a roster of updated ancillaries that includes names like Fat Man, Moser and Billet Specialties. So, without further ado, here's our latest world-class pro-tourer!
BODYWORK/TRIM
The beneficiary of a professional restoration that was completed in September of 2016 by North Texas Rod and Custom of Kaufman, Texas, this stunning coupe is the product 2.5 years spent sweating the details. During that time, all the car's exterior panels, with the exception of its roof and cowl, were carefully replaced and massaged to better-than-factory alignment. That alignment is highlighted by glistening Red Rock tri-coat, which is accented with a custom Licorice top stripe. When you step close to that slick PPG Vibrance Street Sweet pigment, you'll find flaw-free surfaces that have traveled mere break-in miles since they were lovingly rehabbed. And ultimately, it all adds up to one very impressive classic that looks right at home casting reflections at all manner of Goodguys Nationals!
In the collector car world, the key to attaining great presence is taking something familiar and freshening it just enough to create a lasting impression. In other words, the idea is to take someone who's seen hundreds of '69 Camaros and give them definitive reasons to specifically remember this car. Those reasons begin with a polished and shaved grille, which hangs Detroit Speed Rally Sport headlights above clear parking lamps, a smoothed and painted bumper, and a custom metal chin spoiler. At the top of that grille, a shaved header leads the eye to a steel, Stinger-style hood, which balances Hotchkis pins in front of mirrored Rain Gear wipers. Behind those blades, polished frames and painted drip rails cage a tinted greenhouse, which is accented by a modern 'shark fin' antenna. Below that glass, the car's smooth profile centers trick mirrors, themed call-outs and flush Kindig It door handles between filled marker lamps and a flush fuel filler. And at the back of that profile, a shaved valance hangs billet taillights and a second smoothed and painted bumper between a custom metal wing and a custom metal splitter.
ENGINE
Hoist the car's aggressive hood and you'll find 6.2 liters of small block fury! Officially known as the Chevrolet Performance LS376, that sweet crate engine twists respectable 10.7 to 1 compression into 525 horsepower and 475 lb./ft. of everyday torque. And despite consistently delivering track-blistering, low-end performance, it revs to 6,600 RPM and regularly achieves over 20 MPG! Up top, a remote filter element charges a polished air tube, which feeds a GM throttle body and a familiar composite intake that's shrouded in metallic paint. That air marries fuel in rectangular-port L92-style heads, which hide high performance lifters and high-rate springs under custom coil covers. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile union. A racing-inspired ASA cam maximizes intake efficiency through better breathing. Speaking of breathing, the smooth mill funnels spent gases through coated Hedman Hedders. A lightweight RnD Fabrication radiator fronts a big puller fan and a quality Edelbrock water pump. And a polished Billet Specialties Truetrac system spins a polished aluminum alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. Aesthetically, the custom-fabricated engine bay follows a trick radiator cowl with smoothed fenders, a smoothed firewall and a custom hood structure that encases thick sound insulation. And items like braided lines, billet braces, Ringbrothers hood supports and Billet Specialties fluid reservoirs convey a keen sense of top-notch detailing.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Bottom-side, a billet flywheel leads a McLeod hydraulic clutch, jolted by a billet fluid reservoir, which twists a Quick Time-dressed Tremec TKO600 5-speed. That transmission spins a hooped driveshaft, which twists a tough Moser 9-inch that's built with a limited-slip differential and 31-spline axles. That driveline pushes a Fat Man Stage III front-clip, which hangs polished stainless control arms and adjustable QA-1 coil-overs between forged, 2-inch drop spindles and a urethane-seated sway bar. Opposite that clip, a triangulated Ridetech 4-link centers two more QA-1 coil-overs under 3-inch Detroit Speed mini tubs. At the command of a polished booster, two 6-piston Wilwood calipers squeeze two 13.5-inch drilled rotors in front of two 4-piston Wilwood calipers, which squeeze two 12-inch drilled rotors. Those stops are countered by a stainless, 16-gallon fuel tank, which, thanks to an inboard Aeromotive pump, feeds an Aeromotive regulator that's hooked to an Aeromotive pressure gauge. Power rack-and-pinion steering makes quick work of turns. Exhaust floats from the aforementioned headers in to Mandrel-bent pipes, which center an H-shaped crossover in front of rowdy Magnaflow mufflers. Power meets the pavement through polished Billet Specialties blades, which spin two 235/40ZR18 Nitto Invos in front of two 295/35ZR18 Nitto Invos. And the car's clean, undercoated floors highlight top-notch finishing components like a Holley oil pan, a reliable Powermaster starter and Ridetech sub-frame connectors.
INTERIOR
Inside the cockpit, traditional Chevrolet style plays well with a roster of choice upgrades. Front and center, a 6-point Competition Engineering roll bar frames leather-wrapped Corbeau buckets that are finished with 5-point G-Force harnesses. In front of those seats, a leather-trimmed dash hangs Dakota Digital VHX telemetry above Clayton Machine Works foot pedals. Those gauges, along with the car's Classic Auto Air conditioning and modern Panasonic stereo, operate courtesy of fresh Painless wiring. That head unit bumps a series of crisp Panasonic speakers and a 10-inch Bazooka Tube subwoofer. At the center of the floor, a custom console anchors a Hurst Blackjack shifter between custom sills, insulated carpet and Camaro-themed floor mats. At the edges of that carpet, custom door panels hang Clayton Machine Works Truss door handles in front of remote locks and modern power windows. And in front of the driver, a 15-inch Budnik steering wheel spins a half-wrapped rim around a tilting Ididit column.
