MOTION-MODIFIED
The 1960s were a magical time in the automotive world. Gas was cheap, Americans were head over heels for their cars, and speed shops were popping up everywhere from backyard garages to dealership showrooms. A select few 'dealership associates' made serious names for themselves, and the result is what collectors now call 'day two cars'. Day two cars are some of the most exciting and exclusive classics in existence, sporting names like Yenko, Mr. Norm's, Nickey, Dana, Tasca and Royal Pontiac. But no one made day two cars like Baldwin, New York's Motion Performance. The latter half of Baldwin-Motion, with Baldwin Chevrolet being the dealer that sold initial kit to customers, Motion did more than just bolt up 'go fast' parts. They also installed engine packages, created custom bodywork, painted cars and even backed their performance with a Motion Performance Guarantee.
While an authentic 1969 Camaro Z/28 might seem like an unlikely candidate for the Motion treatment, the Phase III package was offered on almost every Camaro available. And, according to this Chevy's owner, conversations with Mr. Motion himself have confirmed this coupe is indeed a Motion-modified car. The most obvious giveaway to this classic's more-than-stock status is its Motion-style Stinger Hood.
