Dodge Challenger 1970

Allmän beskrivning : For most enthusiasts, the privilege of owning a classic car isn't about numbers or return on investment. It's about heading out on the weekend and having a little bit of fun. It's about making a statement and turning heads. It's about the excitement of putting the wind in their face and the roar of an American V8 at their back. That's why rides like this magazine-featured Challenger have such a loyal following. Sure, you'll probably see another one at the show. And it might not turn into a six-figure asset over the next decade. But, it's cool, it's stylish, it's unique and, most importantly, it provides a whole lot of enjoyment! Want to make it yours? Your friends at RK Motors Charlotte are happy to help!
THERE'S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT PURPLE MOPARS
The beneficiary of a meticulous nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration that was completed by a dedicated enthusiast, this cool Challenger wears correct Plum Crazy Purple two-stage that's one part brawn and two parts zest. That signature MoPar menace, sprayed by the pros at Denver, North Carolina's Creations by Gemza, is greatly enhanced by a Satin Black spoiler, painted Challenger R/T stripes and a requisite Blackout Hood Treatment. And today, this Dodge rolls as one choice American muscle car that's built to both turn heads and snap necks!
Unlike many striped and decaled creations, which tend to throw good taste out the window, this awesome MoPar seamlessly balances a cool personality with flashy good looks. At the front of the car, a gray, 1970-exclusive grille hangs a crisp 'Challenger R/T' badge between halogen headlights, a mirrored bumper and clean amber parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a pinned, T/A-style hood centers a functional scoop in front of like-new glass that's framed in polished stainless and reflected in painted Rallye Mirrors. At the sides of that hood, satin door handles, bright marker lamps and an ornate fuel filler highlight a smooth, 'Challenger' branded profile. And at the back of the car, a stainless-trimmed valance hangs 'DODGE' branded taillights between polished exhaust, a second flawless bumper and a second crisp 'Challenger R/T' script.
WHEN THE PROFESSIONAL ENGINE BUILDER OWNS THE CAR
When you spend 30 years in the racing industry, you learn a few things about building an engine. That's especially true if you spent 26 of those years wrenching on motors for a legendary outfit like Roush-Yates Racing. Check this Challenger's clean engine bay and you'll find 540 cubic inches of MoPar Performance stroker that twists hearty 10.5 to 1 compression into 690 dyno-proven horsepower! Show transitions to go when a nondescript air cleaner threads wind into dual Holley 600 4-barrels. Those carbs, modified for street use, feed a custom intake that pairs a cross-ram base with a custom-milled dual-quad top. That intake funnels speed into aluminum Indy heads that are dressed in custom-milled valve covers. Those heads cap CP-Carrillo pistons, which spin 7-inch Oliver Racing rods and a Brooks Racing Components crank. A COMP solid roller cam works well with a billet distributor and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. At the front of those wires, billet pulleys spin a fresh alternator opposite lucid power steering. Cooling is provided by a big MoPar radiator, which rides between a billet thermostat housing and a retro Chrysler fluid reservoir. Exhaust roars through a web of coated TTI headers. And details like a coated fuel pump, polyurethane engine mounts, a deep-sump oil pan and an Auto Gage fuel pressure gauge cement this Dodge's status as a well-blended piece of choice mechanical art.
ALL MUSCLE, NO FRILL
Take one look under this buff E-Body and you'll see that the car definitely has the chops to back up its sinister good looks. The stout engine is hooked to a tough Chrysler A833 4-speed that, secured with polyurethane transmission mounts, twists torque to a dressed Dana 60 axle. A fully restored chassis has been supplemented with tubular Just Suspension controls arms, adjustable Strange Engineering shocks and welded subframe connectors. Turns come courtesy of power-assisted steering. Solid stops are provided by traditional drums and discs, which have been upfitted with braided lines and slotted rotors. Fuel is supplied by a fresh stainless tank. An intimidating growl resonates through large-diameter pipes, which center an H-shaped crossover in front of throaty DynoMax mufflers. And power meets the pavement through plum Crazy steelies, which spin fratzog-branded poverty caps around 235/60R15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Ts and 255/60R15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Ts.
KEEP IT TRADITIONAL
Between the doors, a simple cockpit seamlessly melds the timeless good looks of American muscle with a few choice upgrades. Thick leather seats, complete with shoulder belts for the driver and front passenger, frame a factory console that's fashioned around a Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter. In front of those thrones, a sculpted dash hangs cool Chrysler Rallye Gauges above AM/FM audio and metal-trimmed foot pedals. Rich carpet floats rugged Challenger mats below molded side panels and a tight headliner. And the driver spins a traditional Chrysler Tuff Wheel.
Well-built, fully detailed and attention grabbing in every way, this Dodge backs a lot of show with a whole lot of go. In summary, it's what every car guy wants: speed, style and endless good times! If you're ready to bring home one of the coolest MoPars on the market, free up some garage space and give us a call!
