Daring to be different is great, especially if the different is as good looking as this 1937 Dodge Coupe. With a sleek aerodynamic look, electric paint, and upgraded V8 power, this is the perfect way to fit in with the hot rod crowd while still remaining very distinctive.
It only take one glance to see there was a lot invested in this custom build. The metallic teal was applied with a very professional hand, and so the modern clearcoat flows over the curvy fenders like they were waterfalls. The bumpers have been removed front and rear to continue this smooth attitude. The shaved door handles and painted trim give this one a very modern monochromatic appearance. Because the paint is so uniform, it can only look this good on the straightest of bodies. But like any good hot rod, there's still room for brightwork, but now it stands out some much better. This includes the trim running down the slats on the hood, dual exhaust tips, and of course, no one is going to overlook those iconic Cragar wheels.
Pop the remote doors and you'll see a nice and modern hot rod interior. It starts with gray and turquoise bucket seats that offer much more modern comfort than the Dodge Brothers made nearly 80 years ago. This pattern sets the tone for the door panels, carpets, and headliner. The driver gets a wood rimmed Grant GT sports steering wheel, bold hot rod gear shift knob, and full set of VDO gauges. But this is a comfortable car for the passenger, too. Everyone will enjoy features like the AM/FM/cassette stereo that's adaptable for more modern tunes, power windows, and air conditioning that's running modern R-134a for easy servicing.
But the best upgrade is reserved for under the hood. This one has Ford 302 V8 power, which we all know is very reliable and infinitely upgradeable. In fact, just like the good hot rod it is, this one already has performance parts such as a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and a thumpin' dual exhaust. It presents nicely at shows with tidy blue wires, chrome air cleaner, and chrome valve covers. This one goes down the road nicely with a three-speed automatic. There's also an upgrade to a Mustang II front independent suspension that includes disc brakes and power steering. Out back there's four-link coilover suspension and a versatile 3.55 rear end. It's a true moonshiner hot rod with the enormous trunk, and with all that room, the battery was relocated in there for better weight distribution.
