Ferrari 550 Maranello Maranello Coupe 2001

Allmän beskrivning : When the Ferrari 550 Maranello debuted in 1996, it was met with jubilation by enthusiasts and the motoring press alike. For the previous two decades, Ferrari’s commitment to the mid-mounted flat-twelve layout remained steadfast, yet some fans longed for a return of the V12 engine to its traditional location ahead of the driver. The wish finally came true with the unveiling of the gorgeous 550 Maranello. It was the first two-seat, twelve-cylinder Ferrari sports car since the 1973 Daytona to have its engine sitting up front. Tradition aside, the 550 was a thoroughly modern sports car under the skin. It’s 65-degree V12 had four valves per cylinder and variable-length intake, with an output of 478 horsepower. The tubular spaceframe chassis wore beautiful and aerodynamically efficient bodywork, and there was all the latest in electronic tech to keep the car pointed straight. Just over 3,000 were produced between 1996 and 2002, and the 550 remains a perennial favorite among Tifosi as one of the most revered driver’s cars of the period, and one of the last Ferraris purposely designed with a V12 and manual gearbox combination.

It is with pleasure that we offer this outstanding 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello in the iconic colors of Rosso Corsa over Tan leather. This car has covered just 4,375 miles from new and is presented in impeccable order inside and out, offered with extensive service records, window sticker, and factory tools/accessories. Despite the design being more than 20 years old, the Pininfarina styling has aged remarkably well, displaying a marvelous balance of muscle and grace in the compact proportions and neat detailing. Build quality improved vastly for 550 production, as evident in this prime example. The factory Rosso Corsa paint is superb from stem to stern, highlighted by unmarked black trim on the sills and bumpers, and the aerodynamic underbody panels are excellent. It rides on factory original five-spoke alloys shod with Michelin Pilot tires, and the sale will include a set of multi-piece 575 Superamerica-style Speedline wheels.

Deeply bolstered sport seats are covered in supple tan leather, which continues on the door panels and lower dash. Contrasting black leather is used for the dash top, steering wheel and door pulls. All the hides are in excellent condition, reflective of this car’s ultra-low mileage and meticulous care. Very slight rubbing is noted on the outer bolsters, a common wear point from ingress/egress. Classic-inspired touches include the Daytona-style seat inserts, the diamond-quilted leather parcel shelf with buckled straps, and of course, the iconic gated shifter topped with a polished ball shift knob. Carpets are excellent, as are the original switches, controls, and factory Becker stereo. Accessories, including the original books, tool kit, battery charger, and car cover will accompany the sale.

Service records show regular specialist maintenance history, and the 5.5-liter V12 presents in superb condition, showing off its beautiful cast alloy intake plenums and red wrinkle-finish cam covers. The file includes receipts for timing belts done in 2012 and again in 2018, so it is currently up to date on scheduled maintenance. Notably, the 550 does not require engine-out belt services, making it surprisingly user-friendly to own and maintain. Looking beneath, the suspension components still show factory-applied paint markings and plated hardware. It runs and drives as one would expect from an impeccably maintained 4,375-mile example.

With its big V12 up front, manual six-speed transaxle in the rear, and timeless styling by Pininfarina, the 550 Maranello is one of the last of the pure, unadulterated Italian sports cars. Offered in iconic colors and with exceptionally low miles, this beautiful example is one of the best we’ve encountered and will undoubtedly impress even the most fastidious enthusiast.

Under ytspänningen växte dock.
