You don't even have to be a pony fan to take notice of this one. After all, there's just something instantly alluring about a 1966 Ford Mustang GT fastback that has the unmistakable shine that comes from a serious investment. And once you look beyond the paint, you'll see an upgraded interior, five-speed manual, four-wheel discs, and a performance-built 351 V8. So yes, this car is just as cool as its first impression.
The customization of this Mustang is apparent from every angle, but it never loses its vintage feeling. It starts with a respray of the correct Frost Silver. You know the factory could never get it looking this good. Instead, the paint benefits from a deep luster that comes from an investment in modern clearcoat, and a professional hand applying it. So now this sliver fastback truly looks like precious metal in the sunshine. You can tell the chrome bumpers were upgraded, too, to keep up with the clearcoat shine. The upgraded 17-inch Halibrand-style wheels are also matched to this terrific paint and brightwork. And just in case you didn't pick up on the special features, the blacked-out tail panel has a cool gas cap and advertises the extra muscle of the motor. But even without these upgrades, you want this car because it's an iconic Mustang fastback. We also know you love all the correct GT touches like the fog lights in the grille, triple rocker stripe, and trumpeted dual exhaust coming out of the rear valance. The same dual classic/modern personality happens on the inside. If all you did was peek your head in to look at the seats, you'd see a premium interior with a center console and a great "Pony" back on the seats. When you look under the hood, you see that the paint is not the only thing that has a terrific shine. This V8 radiates power with the presence of the dual air topper, Pulleys, aluminum radiator, and Ford Motorsports valve covers. More than just look great, these help the get the most out of the upgraded 351 cubic-inch crate engine. While having the Windsor motor filling the engine bay of this early Mustang is already a serious power upgrade, the custom build didn't stop there. It features go-fast goodies like a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Davis United performance distributor, and headers that feed the rumbling X-pipe dual exhaust. Best of all, the upgraded T5 five-speed manual transmission gives you full control over the enhanced V8 and its thunderous soundtrack. In fact, this custom Mustang is all about control. That's why you have plenty of suspension enhancements, including a thick sway bar up front, Currie 9-inch rear end, and four-wheel disc brakes.
