The 1970s luxury car market, the mantras 'bigger is better' and 'more is better' were alive and well. Cars from Cadillac, Lincoln and Chrysler were large, isolated, came equipped with massive torque rich motors and provided an extremely comfortable ride that was second only to a cruise ship. This generation of the Lincoln Continental is a full-size luxury machine with an instant presence and this one has the options that really impress. The Mark IV piled on the grandiosity of the period with its hidden headlights, large grille, stand-up hood ornament, miles-long hood, half vinyl top, Cartier clock and oval-shaped opera windows. For 1979, Lincoln gave the Mark IV an extra dose of appeal with the Collector Series that marked the last year for the full-size Lincoln.

This example offered for sale was sold new at Sunland Lincoln-Mercury in Scottsdale, Arizona on July 10th, 1979 to its original owner Carl J. LaRocca. The list price was a whopping $23,243.00 with the amount of factory options ordered. The option list includes Radio with 8-track tape and factory CB, appearance protection group, carpeted luggage compartment, color-keyed turbine wheels, defroster, garage door opener, headlamp convenience group, illuminated entry system, interior light group, interval windshield wipers, miles-to-empty fuel indicator, passenger recliner, personalized nameplate, power locks, power bucket seats, power windows, power vent windows, remote control mirror, rocker panel molding, speed control, tilt steering wheel, unique Landau vinyl roof, unique paint stripes, air conditioning, four wheel disc brakes, power steering, Cartier day/date clock, solid state ignition, coolant recovery system, cornering lights, white sidewall tires, bodyside moldings, moonroof and more.

Today, the car remains in amazing original condition having traveled a mere 8,566 miles from new! The paint still has great luster and the interior looks like showroom new! If you look under the hood, the 400ci engine and accessories still have the factory inspection markings showing. Underneath the car is the same with inspection markings and factory tags still present.

Included in the sale of this time-capsule Continental are the original bill of sale, purchase agreement, copy of original window sticker, owner card, extended service plan card, deposit slip, registration slips. original license plates, dealer frames and much more!
