General Overview
A mainstay of Americana featuring the best features found in any GM wagon, the Oldsmobile included the unique Vista Roof glass for panoramic sky views. Optioned with tilt steering wheel, Air Conditioning, and power front disc brakes these were great cruisers. Capable of hauling the family to any National Park, soccer game, or scouting event, these wagons once dominated interstate highways, filled Motel 6 parking lots, and drained gas at .50 cents a gallon. Today these giants of Americana are rarely found in the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme variant, especially with the Vista Cruiser roof and vinyl wood siding.

History and Build Details of This Car
According to the previous owner, the first owner was a resident of Arizona who sold the car to the 2nd owner, a resident of California. The car remained California with the 2nd owner for approximately 25 years before the 3rd owner, a Yorba Linda, CA resident purchased it. The 4th and current owner purchased the car in 2020.
This wagon is outfitted with power front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, power steering, tilt steering wheel, tinted glass, and dual exhaust. It is equipped with factory air conditioning which operates but does not blow cold. An aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo unit is installed with extra box speakers and a trio of aftermarket gauges (oil pressure, water temp, volts) is installed under the dashboard and an aftermarket Kenwood stereo is installed in the dashboard. This wagon wears a set of 1980/81 Camaro mag wheels and BF Goodrich TA radial tires installed under prior ownership.
Under prior ownership the radiator was re-cored, new radiator hoses were installed and a new thermostat installed. Additional items installed under previous ownership includes four new BF Goodrich tires, new front and rear shock absorbers, new coil springs, new water pump, new fuel pump, new ignition wires, and a new set of auxiliary gauges.
Under current ownership (2020 and 2021), the differential pinion seal was replaced, new upper control arm shafts and bushings installed, wheel bearings repacked, rear sway bar replaced, a new power steering box and gear (rack and pinion worm and ball) installed, wheel alignment, a new power steering pump, and a lube and oil filter change was performed.
Condition Overview
Today this Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon is ready to enjoy and show at local cruise-ins or cars n’ coffee events. The exterior paint finish is smooth and glossy though showing some checking, minor scratch marks, and four or five 1/8” paint bubbles on the roof. The 3M vinyl siding is in excellent condition. The doors, hood, and tailgate door open and shut with very good closure and panel gaps are consistent with this era of assembly. The chrome trim and vinyl wood siding are well done with good fit and polish. The black vinyl and gray weave cloth interior are a nice combination of original and recently freshened features including recent foam in the driver’s seating. Front and rear bench seats are fitted with seatbelts and the front seats feature adjustable headrests. Black carpeting is in very good condition.
Under the hood, the 350 cu. in V8 engine is mated to an automatic transmission, a fitting combination for the wagon series. The engine is updated with Edelbrock branded chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner. An Edelbrock carburetor is installed, and a battery dated 4/2020 is in place. The underside is generally clean and dry showing no immediate visual evidence of damage or corrosion.
