Rare and Desirable 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible
New to our Fairfield showroom is this rare 1970 Plymouth Road Runner  Convertible with Hemi Orange exterior paint and a white vinyl interior. The current owner has taken this rare muscle car to an entirely different level powered by a 472 cubic inch Hemi backed by a console shift-mounted 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission, a pro touring coil over suspension, Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, headers with an electronically activated exhaust bypass. A electronically operated Air Grabber hood, a polished Wizard oversized radiator, polished aluminum March Performance Pulley System, a 3:23 to 1 rear axle ratio and custom-made 17" Argent Rally wheels.
One of Only 824 Convertibles Built in 1970
This 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible is one of 824 produced that year and it started its life as a 383 V-8 with 335 horsepower. As you already know, the Roadrunner convertibles were only produced for two years and only three total Hemi examples were produced overall…each of which now have astronomical value. Since the current owner could not locate one of those examples, he did the next best thing and invested over $150,000 in this amazing vehicle to take it far above and beyond what any serious collector would expect. It has to be seen in person to truly appreciate it.

A closer look at this 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible reveals that it has the correct white vinyl interior with bucket seating and it’s immaculate throughout; bordering on looking like new. It also has the correct paint color for this example, the correct Tic-Toc Tach and 150 mph speedometer, the “Beep-Beep” roadrunner horn, plus it comes with power steering, power brakes, a new power soft top, and premium aftermarket wheels. Under the hood you will find lots of aftermarket performance upgrades. This Hemi Orange Road Runner is a romping stomping tire smoking beast not built for the faint of heart.

Overall, this 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible is easily one of the nicest examples nationwide and the current asking price does not even begin to cover the complete build costs. Given that this was an ultra-rare example to begin with, the asking price is likely far too conservative anyway.
