If you don't like talking about your car, then don't buy this 1969 Pontiac Beaumont Custom Convertible. There are those who know about the Chevelle's sibling; there are those who have never seen it before; and all of them will get in close to see the details on this rare find. So it's a good thing that this is a well-done V8 droptop is finished in a vibrant color and remains so complete.
The silhouette is familiar, but the car looks quite distinct, doesn't it? And those big bright chrome bumpers really do remind you of a Chevelle. But the distinctively split front end and the two-piece taillights are unmistakable Pontiac. That's because the Pontiac Beumont is from the few years when GM had Chevelles made for Pontiac's division in Canada. In fact, there are some very-specific maple leafs within the badging to remind you of its interesting history. This convertible is an attention-grabber, and so it seems only fitting to have this finished in a bright yellow. But as vibrant as this car looks, it didn't stray too far from the Daytona Yellow offered by GM in '69. Dual black racing stripes are a great touch for any A-body car, especially with some cool touches, like the Beaumont name next to the faux hood vents. And these crisp stripes also go nicely with the brand new convertible top. Not only is it distinctive, but also everything about this car really tells you it's rare. Beaumonts were only their own separate model for a few short years, and 1969 was the last of them. Plus, while convertibles are always rarer, the Great White North often likes them even less. That likely makes this factory V8 car less than 500 ever made. And just think of how few survived to look so complete over a half-century later! For those Beaumont purists out there, you noticed correctly! This Beaumont actually has the front and rear end of a 1968 Beaumont, which makes this one even more of a conversation piece.
If you like the way the black roof looks against the yellow paint, then with the flip of a switch, you'll love powering it down to reveal the all black interior. You get two rows of wide button-top seats, fresh carpeting, and clean/clear glass that all tell you they made a solid investment in keeping this one feeling nice. But what will really have you excited are all the little differences you get with this rare Beaumont. For example, the dash is different from the Chevelle with vertical heat/defrost sliders and a triple-pod gauge package that looks more like a LeMans. And if you look in the trunk, there's special airbrush graphics to remind you that this convertible is unique.
There first thing you'll notice when you pop the hood is more custom airbrushing, so this one was made to show off. Plus, there are plenty of shining components in the tidy engine bay. Not only does this 307 cubic-inch V8 have extra flair, but also it was built for extra firepower. It inhales deeper with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and long tube headers add extra power while contributing to the sweet sound of the very straight pipes on the glasspack dual exhaust. This is a car that's made to be driven. That's why you have an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and a SS-style rear end with boxed trailing arms and a sway bar. Brand new BF Goodrich front tires as of October 2020 (not in current photos)!
