Allmän beskrivning : 1973 Porsche 911T Coupe RS upgrades
s/n 91131oo869, engine no. *6131307*
Yellow with Black Interior

When the 911 first appeared on American soil, it did not take long for these potent and beautiful cars to become the standard for excellence in affordable sports cars. Their unparalleled drivability, ease of use, and simple elegance defied former “fussy” sports car paradigms. Their functional looks, purposeful interiors and road going agility led to a fanatical following, one that thrives today particularly among enthusiast collectors. For many years, 911s remained excellent used cars, but finding genuine uncompromised examples has become challenging. Early 1973 911Ts sold in the United States featured the MFI (mechanical fuel injection) coupled with the stout 2.4 liter engine. Most early 911s have appreciated in recent years and the late cars (1972 and 1973), are considered the ultimate development of the 'long hood' 911.

This is an early 1973 model originally equipped with MFI (currently now running Webers). The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity indicates that this car was originally delivered in Light Yellow/62 with Black Leatherette/11, to a US buyer with US equipment, Option Group G64 (Getrag transmission), Koni shocks, manual antenna, Loudspeakers and Noise Suppression, Tinted Glass all around, and Michelin Tires.

Originally delivered to California or Nevada, this car was used by the original owner for some time and then sold to the second owner who amassed 115k miles by the time he sold it to Russell Dudley. Dudley owned the car for several years, before he made modifications to give the car an authentic RS appearance. He installed front and rear spoilers, added a fiberglass RS duck tail, and had proper RS fender flares welded to the car. By this time, he also installed a 3.0 liter engine but the original engine was still within reach. The fourth owner, a Porsche specialist and mechanic, decided this car was too important to not be reunited with the original engine. He was able to locate and purchase the original motor, rebuilding it to 2.8 liter specifications. He also added an oil cooler and Weber carburetors, further contributing to the RS look of this car. At this time, the owner installed the original interior, and updated the interior components as needed. Roughly a year after being reunited with its original engine, the current owner purchased this car, adding only 1000 miles to it since rebuilding both the engine and gearbox, driving it from Reno (where the car appears to have spent most of its life) to the 2016 Monterey weekend.

Currently this 911T presents nicely. The build into RS specifications began with a very sound original example and thus the original integrity has resulted in a finely upgraded car. The driver-quality paint is glossy throughout and has nice depth to it. The fit and general finish including the RS body features is quite nice. Minor nicks and a few road ships are evident along the rocker panels and front valance. The hood, deck, and doors close and open easily, however, the driver’s door is a bit tight along the trailing seam line. Overall cosmetics are consistent with the driver quality paint and presentation, with some light scratches on the chrome, rough rubber trim along the window areas, and minor trim scuffing. The wheels are upgraded 16” Fuchs with 7” front and 8” width rear. The tires are also new having been added recently.

The interior has been very nicely restored with newly covered seats, new carpet, new headliner, and a new dash (replaced, not covered). The original door panels were retained and show evidence of light use. All replacement materials used were selected with originality in mind. The cosmetic presentation of the interior is again consistent with the driver quality presentation, inviting regular use but very tidy visuals. The undercarriage is as you might expect a driver level car to be, with no significant damage to the floor or support structure. The car has been in a desert climate all its life and there is no evidence of excessive corrosion underneath.

Stepping into the car, the overall look and feel is purposeful and direct. This is confirmed when you turn the key and the Weber fed 2.8 liter engine barks to life. The motor has been properly dialed in having been rebuilt less than a year ago with only 1000 miles covered since. First gear is easily engaged as light throttle pressure and nicely sprung clutch engage for an easy start. Off the line the car comes to life and opens up quickly. Moving through the gears, there is no hesitation as power comes on strong, continually. The 2.8 liter improvement is greatly evident off the line, exhibiting an eagerness generally reserved for race-prepped cars. Braking is swift and confident, slightly soft at first with progressively more grip. The engine makes excellent power, delivering a throaty roar that only early carbureted cars can offer. The Koni shock suspension has a taut feel, well matched to the tight steering. Slow sweeping corners are delightful symphonies of engine and motion, unique only to driving a Porsche 911. Even on warm days there is no evidence of excessive cabin heat or exhaust fumes to detract from your driving pleasure.

Records with the car include receipts for work done on the engine and various mechanical components, as well as records from previous owners and a tool set. Also included with the car is the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming this as a matching numbers, original yellow Porsche 911T.

This authentic matching numbers 911T features recent restoration work and thoughtful upgrades to a factory “RS” look. This combination makes this 911T a fun and desirable example ready for any enthusiast to drive and enjoy.

Slutsats:
