Abarth 595 SS 1970

General description : Italo-Austrian Carlo Abarth established Abarth & C. S.p.A. in 1949 as an Italian racing car and road car manufacturer. The company began developing and racing cars based on the 204 sports car that they obtained from the Cisitalia liquidation. In 1951 the company moved its headquarters to Turin and began its well-known association with fiat in 1952 when they built the Abarth 1500 BipostoIn 1957 Abarth turned his attention to tuning Fiat's Nuova 500 by upping power from 13 to 21bhp, while increasing engine capacity from 499cc to 593cc in 1963 for the '595' model, increasing the horsepower to 27bhp. In the following year Abarth introduced the 595 Sprint Speciale (Esse-Esse) which incorporated further enhancements and increased output to 32bhp. Abarth's conversions halved the standard car's acceleration times and powered the 595 SS on to a top speed of more than 80mph, whilst lowered suspension and a wider track helped the little Fiat utilise the increased performance. It is estimated that only 20 Fiat-Abarth 595 Esse-Esse models were produced by the factory. The car we are offering is one of the original 595 Esse-Esse models and one of just seven completed in 1970. The car is finished in the classic white over black colour scheme with red decals. It presents incredibly well and is in brilliant usable condition after spending the last few years as a crowd favourite within a large U.K. collection. It is complete with Abarth steering wheel, gearstick, Jaeger dials, and timing stopclocks. It also features the canvas removable roof for ultimate open-air motoring fun! There have been plenty of conversions into Abarth specification, but this is the real deal and would be the perfect addition to any Italian car collection. The car is U.K. registered and ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. Smiles per miles don't get much better than this!
