AC Cobra 427 454 CID V8 1966

General description : Carroll Shelby might roll over in his grave at the sight of a Chevrolet-powered AC Cobra, but even he couldn't argue with the performance and build quality of this Everett-Morrison Cobra Replica. Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this 1966 AC Cobra Replica, which is titled as a 1988 Cobra. All Cobras are special beasts, but this build is a little more unique with its engine and drivetrain. Under the hood is a 454 CID Big Block V8 that rumbles to life and belts out a menacing note through the side pipes. This engine is backed by a five-speed Richmond manual gearbox, and the independent rear suspension setup was plucked from a C4 Corvette and features 3:10 gears. Since being built in 1988, this car has just 11,000 miles on it, and it underwent a significant restoration including a complete engine rebuild in 2014 with aluminum heads, Holley four-barrel carb, MSD ignition, Edelbrock intake and a .550 lift cam. And to hammer the visual impact of this Cobra home, it is finished with a lustrous black-and-gold metallic paint job with polished aluminum wheels and fake knock-offs. To keep this 1966 AC Cobra Replica looking good, it comes with a full car cover, too. Options on this 1966 AC Cobra Replica include power steering, seat belts, aluminum/alloy wheels and radial tires. About AC Cobra 427
AC Cobra 427 MK III

The fact that the AC Cobra 427 is the world's most replicated sports car can have both positive and negative effects on the value of the originals. On one hand, the popularity of the car and the proliferation of replicas can help to raise awareness of the original models and increase demand among collectors. On the other hand, the presence of so many replicas can also create confusion and uncertainty among buyers, potentially driving down prices or making it more difficult to find a genuine example.

To ensure that they are buying a genuine Cobra rather than a replica, potential buyers should do their due diligence and thoroughly research the car's history and provenance. This may involve consulting with experts or third-party organizations that specialize in authenticating classic cars, or contacting previous owners or collectors who have knowledge of the car's history.

Some key factors to look for when verifying the authenticity of a Cobra include matching chassis and engine numbers, original documentation or paperwork, and evidence of the car's racing or competition history. It may also be helpful to examine the car's physical characteristics, such as the placement of certain components or details in the interior or engine bay, as these can sometimes be used to differentiate between original and replica models.

Ultimately, the most important thing for a potential buyer to do is to educate themselves about the specific model and to be cautious and thorough in their research before making a purchase. This can help to ensure that they are buying a genuine and valuable classic car, rather than a replica or fraudulent model
