The Chevrolet 3100 is undoubtedly the automobile that revolutionized post-war utility design. Chevrolet has succeeded in offering the world a perfect model, mixing very well rugged style with this machine that came straight out of nowhere and whose timeless design is the dream of thousands of people around the world. To liven up the pickup, a pre-war 216 ci (3.5-liter) inline-6 engine was boosted to 92 horsepower at 3,300 rpm. Its version of 235 ci (3.9 liters) born in 1941 is also available and offers 136 horsepower. As for the 261 ci (4.3 liters), it only came into play in 1954 when the 216 ci disappeared. These engines were mated to three or four-speed manual gearboxes, and from 1954, the Hydramatic automatic gearbox was offered. Finally, in 1955, the "3100 Advanced Design" entered its final year before being replaced by the "Task Force" with a V8 engine.
