Chevrolet 3100 Pickup Truck 1957

General description : We've said it time and time again: the mark of a great custom is virtually invisible work! When you look at a classic and know something is different, but you can't quite put your finger on what, it's a sure sign that a builder succeeded at their task. This sweet Chevrolet 3100 probably had you guessing for at least a moment, as it seamlessly blends old and new to create one super cool custom that's great to look at and fun to show -- especially under striking chameleon paint!
GREENS AND BLUES AND PURPLES, OH MY!
Yes indeed, that bed is from a late model C/K pickup and, yes indeed, the way it fits on this 3100's vintage chassis is so perfect you'd think GM planned it that way. Unlike some jumbled-up collection of parts with strange angles and wide gaps, this truck's lines flow perfectly. Check out that brow line that extends all the way from the headlight bucket to the back of the cab, then continues through the bed. Cool, right? Of course, getting a truck to look this good is more than choosing the right parts, it's subjecting them to top notch finish work that includes incredible paint. We all know chameleon paint isn't very forgiving of mistakes or sloppy workmanship and, during this Chevy's acute restoration, the paint bill rang up to over $30K all by itself. No, this isn't some garden-variety respray, this is a truck that's capable of turning heads and cracking smiles!
Correct customization is about leaving original pieces alone when they're right and, as a result, this Chevy still features a bright front bumper, that cool 1957 grille, retro mirrors and factory door handles. Filled bed posts are perfectly complemented by billet step plates and a flush-fitting cover. Traditional emblems have been exchanged for a tri-color Camaro header and GM Mark of Excellence badges. And there's no mistaking the Task Force look, with 1957 being the last year for the single headlights, tri-bar units in this case, that most enthusiasts seem to prefer.
SMALL BLOCK POWER
Power comes from 350 cubic inches of proven Chevrolet small block that's nicely detailed, but not so over-polished you'll be afraid to put it on the road. Plenty of flash makes the top end sparkle, especially against that dark paint, and the hardware is durable and reliable thanks to decades of development. The truck's firewall and inner fenders were finished to the same high standards as its bodywork, giving the engine a great background and strongly suggesting that no corners were cut during construction. A big radiator keeps everything cool. And things like power steering and A/C were added in the name of comfort and convenience. It's also interesting to note that the original exhaust manifolds were retained, since they fit well and control sound and temperatures better than headers.
BEST OF BOTH ERAS
Another up-to-date modification is the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission, which completely transforms the truck's on-road personality. Where an original unit would be working hard to achieve 60 MPH, this proven 4-speed cruises serenely at 80, even with the with the A/C cranked! This Chevy's clean chassis has been thoughtfully updated with early '60s Chevy truck torsion bars, fitted with a '70s GM 10-bolt and suitably lowered using modern drop shackles. Modern tube shocks smooth out the ride, and the exhaust system features tailpipes that dump just ahead of the rear wheels, NASCAR-style. There's also a disc brake fitted at each corner, just barely visible behind handsome Torque Thrust IIs, which wear a combination of Goodyear and BF Goodrich radials.
LEATHER FOR LIFE
Inside this Chevy's 'big window cab', a comfortable leather interior is ready for miles of cruising! Tasteful tan hides frame dark blue accents to provide timeless style. There's a wide center console that, lifted directly from a modern truck, has been tailored to match. A painted dash hangs stealthy Dakota Digital telemetry next to modern air conditioning. Speaking of modern, a modern Alpine CD player bumps modern speakers between modern power windows and modern power door locks. Tinted glass helps keep cockpit temperatures cool. And the driver spins a leather-wrapped billet steering wheel around a tilting column that's finished with Cruise Control.
More than just a timeless classic, this striking 3100 is a modernized cruiser that features enough custom details to keep fans captivated. And best of all, it's fully sorted and ready to roll! Whether you simply appreciate the vintage appeal of GM's legendary Task Force trucks, or just want something a bit out of the ordinary, this cool classic is your hot ticket!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
