Chevrolet Apache 1958

General description : BUY THIS CARVIEW APACHE'SVIEW CHEVROLET'S Introducing in our Chicago showroom is the crown jewel of vintage pickup trucks. Vintage trucks come in all shapes and sizes but the Cameo introduced by Chevrolet in 1955 was the star of the show. Up until 1955 the pickup truck was completely utilitarian in nature and was completely sparse in both the exterior and interior. Chrome was hardly used and the outward appearance was drab at best. Finally in the mid-50’s chrome was appearing everywhere from base model cars to home appliances and the fine folks at General Motors decided to do something unheard of and make a truck that had as much eye appeal as dependability. Low and Behold the Cameo was born and its mark on truck history was made. For the first time ever a pickup truck owner could drive up to the country club and not feel like a delivery driver. In 1958 the front facia was revamped and the quad headlights that were already a hit on passenger cars of the time appeared on the Cameo. The fiberglass bed of these trucks were built and assembled at the Corvette plant in St. Louis Missouri and delivered to the factories producing the Cameos. This example is one of only 1,405 ever made in 1958 and was freshly and meticulously restored using most of the original parts. Even the seat frame on this truck was taken apart, painted and reassembled! This vehicle was found in a barn and was recently resurrected after a long slumber. Only 6 miles have been traveled in this beauty since restoration. Almost all of the parts on this vehicle are the same ones it came with when it rolled off the assembly line in Kansas City Missouri which makes this Cameo all the more special. Finished in the desirable Bombay Ivory and Cardinal Red with matching interior this deluxe truck has everything you would expect out of a rare and highly coveted pickup. The freshly rebuilt 283 V8 was rated at 185 horsepower in 1958 and was a far cry from the inline 6 cylinders in most of the Fords and Dodges of the time. With just a quick turn of the key this V8 purrs to life and immediately brings you back in time. Mated with the classic 3 speed column shift this truck runs and drives like it should. The photos of this truck do not do it justice and this high quality nut-and-bolt restoration leaves nothing left to be done except reap the rewards. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
