Description : Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is proud to offer this unique Saxony Red 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible. What makes it so unique is its digression from the "normal" path of going with Chevrolet engines in this restoration. Under the custom louvered hood is a beefy Oldsmobile 455 CID V8, which has the task of sending the power through the 4-speed automatic transmission (appears to be a THM200-4R) to the 2.78:1 gear set in the rear axle. The big 455 is enhanced by a 4BBL carb and mild cam, and a custom dual exhaust system provides that vintage muscle car sound. Additional mechanical updates include Wilwood front discs, a giant aluminum radiator with electric cooling fan, Mustang power rack and pinion steering, and tubular upper and lower front control arms. When one sees this car at a distance, it looks like a regular '54 Bel Air convertible, with a lot of shiny brightwork and classic vintage '50s look. Then the details begin to emerge as you get up close. The Saxony Red paint looks great, the glass is good, the chrome pops in the sun, and the chromed American Racing wire-style wheels complete the look. Inside, this 1954 Bel Air has a nearly new interior. Having received a complete refreshing of the interior a few years back, it's ready for many miles of smiles. A set of custom VDO gauges reside in the dash, and a Sunpro tach is neatly tucked just below the speedo. An AM/FM/CD head unit is hidden in the glovebox, sending the tunes to the Pioneer speakers. The power driver's seat is out of a 1978 Oldsmobile, and all seats were completely redone with new foam, springs, and a nice grade of classic synthetic leather replaced the old worn-out vinyl. The same material was used for the side panels, and for the custom cupholder console. The carpet was completely replaced, and nicely hides the cabin componentry for the Vintage Air system's airflow delivery. The trunk was also completely redone and dressed out for shows. The convertible top is nearly new, having been replaced recently. This is a nice classic that's ready to drive to your next car show or go on a long cruise. Additional features and options on this 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air for sale consist of Air Conditioning, AM/FM/CD Radio, Automatic Convertible Top, Power Brakes, Power Driver's Seat, Power Steering, Seat Belts, Spare Tire, Tilt Steering Column, and Vinyl Interior.
