Chevrolet Camaro 355 CID V8 1986

General description : For sale in our St. Louis showroom is an iconic 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z. The original engine has been balanced, blue printed, bored cylinders and a Comp Cam camshaft, and is now a 355 Cubic Inch V8. No harm done there, as the original set up only produced about 220 horsepower on a good day, it now produces about 330 horsepower. Just under 2,000 miles have been put on the engine since the rebuild was complete. A 700R4 4 speed automatic transmission transfers the horses to the rear end, and to the pavement. This 1986 Camaro IROC-Z was sanded a primed before it received a new coat of the beautiful Victory Red paint, and silver and black striping at the bottom edge of the car. The iconic IROC-Z lettering adorn the bottom of each door. The red cloth interior is in good condition, and shows very well. The third generation Camaro debuted in the fall of 1981 for the 1982 model year. Nearly every part of the third generation was redesigned. The main focus was to drop weight, Chevrolet succeeded in that goal shedding over 500 pounds from the previous model. The IROC package was introduced in 1985, it was an option available off the standard Z28 package. IROC or International Race Of Champions comes from a best of the best style racing series in which top drivers from all walks of racing (NASCAR, Indy, Formula One, etc.) competed against one another for the title of best driver in the world. The IROC-Z package included a number of upgrades: 16" X 8" aluminum/alloy wheels with Z-rated Goodyear Gatorback tires, a lower ride height featuring upgraded front struts, Delco-Bilstein rear shock absorbers and increased spring rates, a Wonderbar or front frame-rail stiffener, and a larger rear stabilizer bar. Cosmetically the IROC-Z received a new grill, body covered ground effects, and the iconic IROC-Z decals on each door. New for the 1985 Camaro was an upgraded 7 5/8 inch rear end from the 7.5 inch rear end of previous years. The IROC package included a G92 performance axle as well. The odometer reads 18,500, which has rolled over one time, and the car is believed to have 118,500 on it. Options for this 1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z include: Air Conditioning (inoperable), AM/FM Radio with Cassette Player, Cruise Control, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Cloth Interior, Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. The Camaro IROC-Z is one of the most iconic cars from the 1980's, and some believe one of a few collectible cars from that generation as well. This is a great example of an IROC that you can buy, drive, and enjoy with a big grin on your face the entire time.
