LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RS
Introduced as Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Mustang, the first-year Z28 Camaros are the rarest of the breed with only 602 ever produced. The father of the Z28 is arguably Vincent Piggins, formerly an engineer in Packard’s engine department before going to work for Hudson. Piggins is credited with engaging with the SCCA officials in a number of conversations regarding the details of the impending Trans-Am sedan racing class, which led to the creation of the model. The Z28 Special Performance Package included the 302-cubic inch V-8 engine, optional cowl induction plenum, dual exhaust with deep tone mufflers, special front and rear suspension, heavy-duty radiator and temperature-controlled fan, quick ratio steering, 15x6 wheels, red stripe tires, 3.73:1 rear axle and special paint stripes on the hood and rear deck. The Camaro was also seized upon and made famous by Penske Racing and driver Mark Donohue, who campaigned the Camaro through 1969.
This 1967 Camaro Z28 has been rotisserie restored to OEM specifications with no expense spared. Factory built at the Los Angeles Plant, this Z28 was factory painted Bolero Red with White Stripes complemented by a 760 Black interior. This ultra-rare Camaro powered by its numbers matching MO code Z28 engine and M21 4-speed transmission. It is one of only 84 California delivered 1967 Camaro Z28’s with A.I.R. (air injection reactor) emission system and one of the most highly optioned Z28’s ever factory built. Options include: the very rare Rally Sport Package, 3.73 Posi-Traction, AM Radio, Console, Tinted Glass, Front and Rear Bumper Guards, Shoulder Harness Seat Belt, Remote Mirror, Tach and Gauge Package, Rear Antenna, 4 Speaker Stereo and Interior Chrome Package. Under the hood, enthusiasts will immediately notice the optional cowl plenum duct running from the air cleaner to the firewall, which was available instead of the open element air cleaner in period and pulled air from the cowl vents instead.
These cars rarely come up for sale and are sought after by Camaro enthusiasts and collectors alike. This special Z28 has been documented as #202 in the National 1967 Camaro Z28 registry. It was restored to extremely high standards and is exactly what collectors are looking for being ultra-rare, numbers matching engine and highly optioned example.
