Chevrolet Chevelle 454 CID V8 1971

General description : This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 1971 Chevelle was GM’s 4th year using the rounded body design with only minor changes from the previous year. As with all the other manufactures the cost of fuel combined with the high insurance premiums took its toll on performance with even the highest rated LS5 only putting out a mere 365HP. The HP wars were over but GM’s classic 3rd generation Chevelle is still considered to be one of the best-looking cars to leave Detroit. This 71 Chevelle has taken those looks and added some custom touches making it into the car you see today. The paint is a deep Candy Red with a dark and deeper burgundy SS style stripe paying homage to the original SS paint scheme. With the chrome bumpers and trim polished to high luster this car is guaranteed to turn heads. The lower stance adds to that aggressive look while the 18” wheels in the front and 20” wheels in the back make it appear even lower. The 4-wheel disc brake are easily seen through the Boyd rims which not only look good but add to the performance side of things. Under the hood is probably the most recognizable big block made. The 454 engine sounds great with its mild cam giving it a throaty sound at idle. Hit the gas and this red rocket squats down and goes. The TH350 trans shifts out nicely with the 1st to 2nd shift being firm but not too the point where it will break your neck. A peek inside reveals a custom interior that is laid out nicely. The tan with red snake skin accents goes well with the exterior scheme. A set of bucket seats with a console separating them is a nice touch. The one off stereo system has speakers molded into the side of that console as well as the rear deck. The custom interior has been continued inside the trunk as well with the amp recessed into the floor and 71 embroidered into the sides finishing off the custom look. If you have been looking for a Chevelle that has a one-off look while retaining those great body lines this 71 is the perfect fit. Options on this 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle include; AM/FM/CD, Power Steering Power Brakes, Power Sunroof, Leather interior, Seat Belts, and Aluminum Wheels with Radial Tires. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
