Chevrolet Chevelle LS3 6.2L V8 1971

General description : The 1970 Chevelle is the indisputable king of Chevrolet muscle cars. In fact, some enthusiasts would even argue that the 1970 Chevelle is the indisputable king of all Chevrolet cars. But sometimes familiarity breeds contempt, and people start to tire of seeing essentially the same classic in the front row of every show. It's nothing personal, we all love 1970 Chevelles, and they're pretty much guaranteed to maintain their desirability. But what about folks who want something a little different; something that makes spectators stop and do a double take? Well, that's why the market is beginning to elevate Chevy A-Bodies that are familiar, but different. Over the past decade, '68, '69, '71 and even '72 Chevelles have begun developing their own following of dedicated enthusiasts. And once you've spent time around a cool cruiser like this 1971 resto-mod, you'll likely join the cult!
RESTORATION-FRESH
As you can probably tell from our high resolution photos, this Chevelle is only double-digit miles out of a detailed, frame-off restoration that involved a full strip of its body and complete disassembly and blasting of its frame. That rebirth actually began about a decade back, when a previous owner purchased the car as a weekend project. However, as these things go, that owner became overwhelmed, lost interest and eventually decided to sell the car to its present owner/restorer. That person, an enthusiast who's restored many classics over the years, commenced a 2-year, labor-intensive build. And today, this Chevy wraps wet-looking Tuxedo Black and Antique White 2-stage around fresh trim, a functional Cowl Induction Hood and era-correct Super Sport branding. You know, the aesthetic differences between 1970 and 1971 Chevelles are minor, but we can't help but think that the latter has a bit more street fighter swagger.
CHEVROLET MUSCLE WITH CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE
For many enthusiasts, one of the most enjoyable aspects of owning 1971-1973 muscle is having people consistently underestimate your car. To be fair, the early '70s were the days when factory offerings started to bleed horsepower. But therein lies the true beauty of a first-class resto-mod like this surly Chevelle! You just MIGHT be able to see the other person's jaw drop as this Chevy's 525 horsepower LS3 crate engine comes alive under your right foot. Test-fitted multiple times, then installed so the car's modern AC componentry is hidden low on the block, that big-torque mill is a vaunted LS376/525 that was sourced directly from Chevrolet Performance. At the front of the block, a remote Spectre filter element feeds a polished air tube, which funnels wind in to a proven GM throttle body that fronts a composite GM intake. That air meets spark in rectangular-port L92-style heads, which ride under familiar Corvette fuel rail covers. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile union. A racing-inspired ASA cam maximizes intake efficiency through better breathing. Speaking of breathing, that smooth valvetrain funnels spent gases through coated long-tube headers. There's a lightweight aluminum radiator that's paired with a polished cap, a polished support plate, a polished expansion tank and dual electric puller fans. And, aesthetically, the car's engine bay is clean and very well sorted.
BEAUTY BELOW THE SURFACE
Part of the reason that LS3 was test-fitted multiple times was to ensure this Chevelle could be comfortably equipped with its proven Tremec T56 6-speed. That tough gearbox is kicked by a hydraulic McLeod clutch on its way to spinning a 3.5-inch aluminum driveshaft. On the other end of that driveshaft, a trusty Ford 9-inch uses friendly, 3.50 gears to push an adjustable 4-link rear-clip. That clip, equipped with Pure Muscle control arms, a beefy sway bar and QA-1 coil-over-shocks, pushes an upgraded front-half that's finished with tubular control arms, a second large sway bar and two more QA-1 coil-overs. Power-assisted stops are provided by The Right Stuff Detailing, with four red calipers squeezing a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Turns come courtesy of power-assisted steering. Great sounds emanate from large-diameter, true-dual pipes, which center throaty Pypes Street Pro mufflers between an X-shaped crossover and polished stainless tips. And everything rolls on chrome Ridler 645s, which lap 225/45ZR18 Sumitomo HTR ZIIIs in front of 275/35ZR20 Sumitomo HTR ZIIIs.
MODERN AMENITIES, TRADITIONAL FEEL
Check the car's Super Sport-spec interior and you'll find a familiar muscle car aesthetic that's had modern convenience integrated where it counts. The front seats are heavily bolstered units that were sourced directly from TMI, and the rear seat has been covered and stitched to match. Front and center, a monochromatic dash founds white-face telemetry above Bluetooth-capable RetroSound audio and components for Vintage Air conditioning. The driver enjoys the car's power through a short Hurst shifter and a reproduction Rally Wheel. And the passenger's stow essentials in a fully carpeted trunk.
When it comes to muscle cars, it's hard to go wrong with ANY classic that's named Chevelle. But how many chances do you get to purchase a Chevelle that's freshly-built, wisely modded AND genuinely unique? This cool coupe is your 525 horsepower chance to stand out in the crowd of Chevrolet royalty. Call, click or visit http://www.RKMotors.com for more information!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
