Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Tribute 396 V8 1967

General description : Description
With its rugged, squared off first generation shape and strong pulling, 396 V8 big block power sitting alongside an array of fresh components under its hood, this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Tribute has been carefully configured to mirror the upper crust Super Sport representatives of its model. And quite frankly, this upgraded beauty will give any one of those stuffed-shirts a run for their money.
It can be argued that the Chevelle in its SS396 form represented its manufacturer's first intentional effort to land a winning contender in the muscle car wars of the '60s. The model received a fairly thorough updating just a year before this '67 debuted, receiving a brawnier overall look, and the broad track and robust front end, along with the distinctive flying buttress rear roofline featured here, are evidence of Chevy's handiwork. Deep red paint that carries a great shine provides just the right bold, aggressive look for this classic and the magnetic color serves as a very effective backdrop for the array of exterior fittings it carries. Polished chrome bumpers both fore and aft and nice, tight body lines throughout the exterior add to its vital, road-ready appearance, and the rocker panel trim accentuates the killer lowered stance of this prowling muscle car. The iconic SS grille up front, the trademark Chevy flag badges on the front fenders, the jet-black taillight panel with its clean SS396 emblem and the Super Sport badges on the rear fenders provide fitting callouts to this Chevy's Super Sport inspiration.
Inside, the black vinyl interior has a largely factory configuration that's accented with some minor aftermarket touches and provides a great environment from which to put this vintage Chevy through its paces. Everything is looking clean inside and the black vinyl front buckets and matching rear bench seat loom over black carpeting lining the floor that's ornamented in front with a pair of matching floormats. Running between the floormats is a clean factory center console that puts the automatic shifter within easy reach and features a stylish analog clock. A sharp 3-spoke SS-badged steering wheel sits atop a factory steering column ahead of the driver, while the dash ahead features stock-style gauges along with chrome and wood-applique inserts throughout. The R134a air conditioning is in top form and cools the cabin as needed via the in-dash vents, and an upgraded retro-style AM/FM stereo manages the tunes. In back, the trunk area is spacious and a lay in carpeted mat tidies it up a bit.
A 396 cubic inch V8 sits in the engine compartment decked out with a pair of chrome valve covers and matching chrome air cleaner (complete with factory decals) that blend well with the chrome alternator and upgraded air conditioning compressor. A stock-style intake manifold crowned by a Holley 4-barrel carb help extract the most from the engine's substantial displacement, an updated ignition system and wiring provide optimum spark and an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans up front keeps operating temperatures in check. The Chevy Orange powerplant runs strong and sounds great through its stock-style exhaust manifolds and, with a very fresh (installed only 800 miles ago) 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission sitting just behind it, plus a heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end in back, this Chevelle is well-geared for both serious off the line exploits and long-term cruising as well. Power steering makes for easy navigation, while power brakes that feature discs up front provide low-effort, fade resistant stops. The undercarriage is very solid and presents well, with upgrade found throughout, while the Flowmaster dual exhaust system sounds wonderfully throaty and deep – the perfect soundtrack for a Chevrolet big block. 17" Boyd Coddington chrome wheels wrapped with 215/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear radials complete the look of this sharp Chevy.
Combining vintage appeal and big block power, this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Tribute is one fine ride. Call today!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
