Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 1966

General description : Wrapping a massaged Chevrolet Performance LS3 and a tough Tremec 6-speed in a professional, ground-up restoration, this timeless Malibu is a super cool resto-mod that's righteous, rockin' and ready to roll! In the market for a sweet classic that's the perfect mix of modern performance and traditional style? Don't miss the chance to own this classy Chevy coupe!
HOT ROD POWER TOUR X2
A fully sorted gem that was built by Raleigh, North Carolina's B-Mac's Auto Restoration, this Chevelle is a frame-off, rotisserie restored cruiser that rang up a hefty 6-figure build budget before even accounting for labor and assembly. That precise reboot included solid sheetmetal and sophisticated Corvette Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat. And that trick paint, layering both the inside and outside of the car's long body, highlights stellar build quality that's detailed all the way down to new seals, new bolts, and all-new lighting and lenses.
A thorough examination of our rich photos reveals trim and ornamentation that remains very similar to what the General specified. At the front of the car, a bright grille hangs a prominent 'CHEVELLE' emblem between clear T3 headlights, vivid parking lamps and an original bumper that's been professionally re-chromed. Behind that grille, a 2-inch Cowl Induction Hood fronts smoked glass that, installed during the car's restoration, is caged in straight frames, polished rails and 7-speed Newport Engineering wipers. At the sides of that hood, textured Super Sport rocker guards reflect tasteful door handles and requisite bowtie mirrors between custom fender emblems and stylish 'Malibu' quarter scripts. And out back, a second original, re-chromed bumper frames an ornate Chevrolet crest, tasteful LS3 badging and upfitted LED taillights.
CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE
Sourced directly from Chevrolet Performance, this classic's proven LS3 utilizes a hearty 6.2 liters of displacement to turn 409 dyno-proven horsepower into of 404 lb./ft. of dyno-proven torque! At the top of the aluminum mill, a remote K&N filter funnels wind into a trusty GM throttle body with the help of quality Speartech engine management. That bowl is seated on a lightweight composite intake that's juiced by a stainless Rick's VaporWorx tank and GM electronic fuel injection. That air/fuel mixture progresses to rectangular-port L92-style heads, which tuck nicely between fresh MSD plug wires and a color-keyed, fifth-generation Camaro engine shroud. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons provide compression, while a hydraulic roller cam maximizes intake efficiency. Speaking of breathing, the smooth mill funnels spent gases through coated Flowmaster tubes. A muted AFCO LS radiator fronts quick-spinning SPAL puller fans. A modern serpentine drive spins modern air conditioning above modern power steering. And items like a smoothed firewall, braided fluid lines, a requisite Holley oil pan and billet Ringbrothers hood supports convey a sense of top-notch detailing.
BUILT FOR THE BLACKTOP
Bottom-side, a tough hydraulic clutch spins torque through a familiar Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed, which, new at the time of the car's restoration, is dressed in a steel Lakewood QuickTime bellhousing. That transmission is hooked to a powder-coated 12-bolt axle, which, also new at the time of the car's restoration, twists an Eaton posi around big, 3.73 gears. A boxed and powder-coated frame gets pushed by a Detroit Speed Swivel-Link 4-link, which is finished with Detroit Speed coil-over-shocks and a Detroit Speed sway bar. At the front of the upgraded chassis, adjustable SPC control arms string Hotchkis 1-inch lowering springs and quality VariShock dampers behind Speedtech AFX spindles and a second Detroit Speed sway bar. The aforementioned power steering floods a Lee Performance 800 gearbox. A Baer master cylinder makes excellent use of Hydratech hydroboost to cinch four Baer calipers around four drilled and slotted rotors. Spent gases traverse 3-inch Magnaflow pipes, which stack high performance Magnaflow cats in front of an X-shaped crossover and polished Magnaflow mufflers. At the corners of the car, chromed Cragars spin 245/45ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports in front of 275/40ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports. And this Chevelle's solid floors are poised to stay clean and weather-free thanks to a generous coating of U-POL RAPTOR liner.
CRUISE IN COMFORT
Pop this A-Body's solid doors and you'll find a tastefully upgraded interior that's both attractive and timeless. In the middle of that cockpit, reclining TMI Sport R buckets wear taut Ultraleather hides and cool red stitching. In front of those seats, a lightly customized dash hangs Dakota Digital VHX telemetry next to Vintage Air climate control and RetroSound Long Beach audio. That head unit pipes both Bluetooth and USB compatibility through a 5-channel amp, an 8-inch sub and four Mirus speakers. Plush carpet, complete with Chevrolet-themed floor mats, splits the difference between Lizard Skin insulation, a dressed console and a Silver Sport Transmissions short-throw shifter. Coordinated TMI door panels front modern power windows. And a customized steering wheel laps a tilting Ididit column that's equipped with convenient Cruise Control.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
