Chevrolet Chevelle 1966

General description : Sometimes simple is good. This traditional Chevelle is, literally, brilliant proof of that philosophy. With a distinct lack of flashy graphics or questionable body modifications clouding its retro Mist Blue paint, this old school Chevy stands out not because of what's there, but because of what isn't. Of course, when you're building a car that honors a specific era, everything you do HAS to be well-planned and well-executed. From factory-style bodywork to a factory-look powertrain, to a factory-spec interior, there's simply no room for compromise. Mixing 396 cubic inches of pro-built big block with retro style, a proven driveline and ultra clean restoration, this exceptional hardtop is a time-honored stunner. And if you're looking for an awesome classic that's road ready, show-ready and just plain battle-ready, it's the perfect way to prowl the scene and bruise a few egos!
BLUE CHEVY CREW
It seems like Mist Blue is the go-to color for traditional Chevy builds -- rightfully so, since it remains dynamic pigment that often walks a perfect line between timeless and retro. Think about it: when you picture sweet, '60s-style Chevy muscle, it's very easy to envision the car in Mist Blue, right? An authentic V8 Chevelle that still shines in its correct color, this beast is the beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration that was professionally glazed in quality PPG two-stage by Boone, North Carolina's High Country Paint & Performance. And today, the car rolls as one very impressive classic that's poised to cruise and polished to show!
A quick look at our high resolution photos reveals trim and ornamentation that remain mostly as the General specified. At the front of this coupe's chiseled body, a familiar Super Sport grille hangs a prominent 'SS427' emblem between traditional halogen headlights and a polished bumper that's finished with small parking lamps. Behind that grille, a subtle Cowl Induction Hood leads the eye to fresh glass that's caged in straight frames, painted drip rails and polished wipers. At the sides of that glass, 427-amped fender emblems and quarter-mounted 'Super Sport' scripts hint at the true nature of the big block's personality while tasteful door handles and a classy bowtie mirror perfectly complement slim wheel lips and factory rocker guards. And out back, a second polished bumper frames simple taillights and bold 'CHEVELLE SS427' branding that occupies a body-matched cove.
BIG BLOCK BRAWN
Check this classic's Satin Black engine bay and you'll find 396 cubic inches of serious Chevy big block that spins 545 dyno-proven horsepower into 511 lb./ft. of dyno-proven torque! A high-nickel block that was professionally rebuilt by the folks at King, North Carolina's Buck Racing Engines, that hot mill begins at a cowl-fed air cleaner, which drops crisp wind into a big Holley carburetor. A Winters aluminum intake feeds aluminum Winters heads, which stack polished valve covers on Erson roller lifters. Those lifters play well with an Erson roller cam, forged pistons, ARP studs and H-beam rods. A proven HEI distributor sequences spark through loomed Megafire wires. A billet serpentine drive spins a Stewart water pump between a modern alternator, a modern AC compressor and modern power steering pump. Cooling is provided by a factory radiator, which is outfitted with a polished overflow and a slim electric puller fan. Spent gases traverse coated Hedman Hedders. Choice detailing includes a coated fuel pump, a polished flywheel cover and a deep-sump oil pan. And the rowdy motor looks great dressed in a traditional coat of Chevy Orange paint!
SUPER SPORTING INTENTIONS
That lust worthy big block twists torque to a tough Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed. That legendary gearbox spins a Moser 12-bolt axle, which is finished with a Truetrac limited-slip differential and fun, 3.31 cogs. That drivetrain pushes a fully rebuilt rear-clip that's been upgraded with a sway bar, boxed lowers, tubular Edelbrock uppers and quality Eibach lowering springs. A factory-style steering box turns a fully rebuilt front-clip that features a thick sway bar and two more Eibach lowering springs. Factory-style power front disc and rear drum brakes have been supplemented with drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers create glorious noise through aluminized pipes and welded mufflers. At the corners, timeless Chevrolet Rally Wheels spin 235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And overall, this Chevelle's solid, Satin Black are primed for logging miles!
FINE FACTORY FORM
Pop this A-Body's solid doors and you'll find a crisp Super Sport interior that's both attractive and timeless. In the middle of that cockpit, taut vinyl buckets wear date-correct Medium Blue hides. In front of those seats, a classy dash hangs optional deluxe telemetry beside factory-style climate control and factory-look audio. Stainless-trimmed side panels frame fade-free carpet, which frames a tidy console that's centered on a cool clock and a stylish shifter. The driver spins a handsome, Chevelle-branded steering wheel. And the passengers stash essentials in a clean, restoration-fresh trunk.
It's impossible to guess how many hours it took to construct this awesome Chevy. But, given the specificity that defines its build, our asking price probably wouldn't even cover the components, let alone labor. At first glance, the car appears to be a simple retro relic, but an acute attention to detail and amazing quality gain your admiration almost instantly. All that said, one thing is certain: bold and boisterous, there's no hiding how brilliant this Chevelle is when you're sitting behind the wheel!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
