General description : For sale in our Chicago showroom is this 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition. Powered by the L-82 350 cubic inch small block Chevrolet V8 engine making a rated 220 horsepower coupled to an automatic transmission, this Corvette is a real pleasure to drive. The Pace Car Edition was a bit of a rich mans package. With the base model Corvette in ’78 stickered at around $9,350, the Pace Car Edition started at a staggering $13,650! That’s a 46% premium, not counting the $525 option for the L82, $250 for power windows and locks, and $175 for the tilt/telescopic steering wheel, this example new was over $14,600! To put that in today’s money, a base model 2016 Corvette cost $55,400, and a similarly upgraded modern “Pace Car Edition” would cost approximately $98,925! This ’78 Corvette brings a lot to the table as far as originality, as well. The seller has informed us that the vehicle is an original numbers matching engine, transmission, original paint, and a mostly original interior. It is #1,356 made out of a total production of 6,502. This vehicle has been judged a number of times, and was given Silver Spinner Certification which means that it was rated between 89%-94% original factory condition. The judging is known to be very detailed, and copies of the judging forms are included with the sale of the vehicle. This vehicle has also taken awards at the Super Chevy Nationals. This rare Corvette is almost identical to when it first left Bowling Green, Kentucky and still has plenty of life left in it, whether as a driver or a collector’s piece. Options include: Air-Conditioning, AM/FM/Cassette, T-Tops, Cruise Control, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Windows, Tilt/Telescopic Wheel, Seat Belts, Leather Interior, Raised White Letters, Radial Tires, and Aluminum Wheels. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
