Chevrolet Corvette 350 V8 1971

General description : For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. This two top Brands Hatch Green Corvette Stingray is ready for the open road. The Saddle vinyl interior is the perfect match for the Brands Hatch Green exterior. The car just came out of a 25-year slumber and was fitted with all new bushings, ball joints, bearings, shocks, brakes & calipers, mufflers, tires, interior and paint. Not quite a frame off restoration, but also not frame off money. The big bonus is the 4-speed and auxiliary hardtop. The C3 hardtops very well may be one of the best-looking hardtops to be fitted to a car. The beige soft top was also replaced and goes very well with the Saddle interior. Options for this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible include: AM/FM Radio, Vinyl Interior, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Seat Belts, Manual Convertible Top (Hard and Soft Tops), Rally Wheels, and Radial Tires. 1971 would be the last year for high horsepower. Through 1971, engines were rated as gross horsepower which meant power was rated with no engine accessories that would rob power. In 1972, horsepower was rated with all engine accessories and power looked as if it fell right off the shelf. Power was indeed down, but not nearly as much as it looked on paper. This one factor plays a significant role in collectability making the 1971 a more sought-after model year than ‘72s. This 1971 is powered by the 270 horsepower 350 and is mated to a fun shifting 4-speed. In 1972 this engine would be rated at 200 horsepower and the 454 would be rated at 270. It would be an interesting matchup; cubic inches and torque vs. the lightweight small block. The small block may be the better choice with fewer fill ups at the gas station and cooler engine temperatures. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
