Chevrolet Corvette 283 V8 1958

General description : Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this beautiful 1958 Chevrolet Corvette. This frame off restoration has only 3,615 miles since it was finished. It is a professionally built and is in show quality. Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the Corvette sports car produced by Chevrolet. It was introduced late in the 1953 model year, and produced through 1962. It is commonly referred to as the "solid-axle" generation, as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray. The Corvette was rushed into production for its debut model year to capitalize on the enthusiastic public reaction to the concept vehicle, but expectations for the new model were largely unfulfilled.[2] Reviews were mixed and sales fell far short of expectations through the car's early years. The program was nearly canceled, but Chevrolet would ultimately stay the course. This gorgeous 1958 Corvette has been owed by the same owner for the last 20 plus years before going through its full frame off restoration. There were photos taken during the restoration process to document the work that was done. This C1 was painted and matched with Dupont paint in the Regal Turquoise GM color. The interior is Charcoal vinyl that looks better than it would have brand new back in 1958. This Corvette is powered by a 283 V8 that has been rebuilt with new cams, pistons, and a crank shaft. It also has a Rochester 4BBL Carburetor. Both the V8 engine and 4 speed Muncie manual transmissions were rebuilt and are numbers matching to this car. The Turquoise paint appeal of this ’58 is set off by the white convertible top, white painted insert, and white wall tires. All of the chrome has been redone to look like new. This car is perfect for a collection of any size and is show ready. Professionally appraised in 2018 for well over $100k, do not let this value pass you by. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
