Chevrolet Corvette 1963

General description : You can ask pretty much any Corvette guy what the paramount vintage Vette is and he'll probably say 'Sting Ray'. When you counter with words like '327' and 'split-window', the phrases 'ultimate' and 'blue chip' become a natural settling point. And investors clearly agree, since prices on mid-year Chevys remain solid year after year despite the state of the economy. A splendid candidate for any serious collector, this fully sorted coupe is an exquisite C2 resto-mod that, thanks to acute restoration, wraps Tuxedo Black paint around a spry 327 and a choice Tremec 5-speed. Looking for some exclusive Americana that'll never go out of style? Give your friends at RK Motors Charlotte a call and experience the 'ultimate' Corvette!
ULTIMATE AMERICANA
During its comprehensive, frame-off restoration, this solid Sting Ray was entirely disassembled and carefully stripped of its dull, original pigment. Once that prep was complete, an original fuselage was massaged to better-than-factory alignment and bathed in sophisticated Tuxedo Black 2-stage paint. And today, one close look at our high-resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the sweetest Corvettes on the planet!
Thanks to a renewed dedication to motorsports, and heavy influence from the original Mako Shark concept car, the second-generation Corvette sports a very athletic appearance. At the front of the car, a low-slung nose tucks a stainless-trimmed grille behind thin 'razor blade' bumpers and bright, bullet-style parking lamps. Above that grille, a familiar cross-flag emblem leads a 1963-exclusive hood, which fronts like-new glass that's tucked behind polished wipers and stainless frames. At the sides of that glass, a sleek profile hangs colorful Chevrolet badging between traditional door handles, monochromatic rocker guards and glorious side-pipes. Opposite those pipes, a stylish bowtie mirror reflects a sloped deck, which seats a factory antenna next to a cross-flag-branded fuel filler. And at the back of the car, two more 'razor blade' bumpers frame a bright Sting Ray emblem, a polished tag pocket and clean, dual-mode taillights.
ULTIMATE DRIVABILITY
Tilt the car's lightweight hood and you'll find a dressed and rebuilt 327 that's ready to mix many a mile with plenty of smiles! At the top of that fully sorted mill, a polished air cleaner funnels wind into a modern Holley 4bbl carburetor that's sequenced to a retro AC fuel filter via clean stainless fluid lines. Below that juice box, a familiar Winters aluminum intake perfectly complements finned Corvette valve covers. At the back, chrome-cased MSD ignition shoots spark past cast exhaust manifolds via stainless-sleeved wires. At the front of those tubes, a Harrison-branded radiator circulates coolant through pliable hoses and authentic tower clamps. And details like a rebuilt alternator, a Harrison overflow tank and a fresh battery ensure this Chevy runs every bit as good as it looks.
ULTIMATE RELIABILITY
Peer under this well-planted coupe and you'll find a Satin Black chassis that's straight, solid and ready to pound the pavement. The hot 327 sends power to a sturdy Tremec 5-speed, which twists a fully overhauled differential. At the front of that driveline, a double A-arm suspension employs a new power steering system. Out back, the proven independent suspension does an excellent job of increasing grip. At the corners of that suspension, retrofitted four-wheel disc brakes mix firm stops with solid handling. And all that fully sorted hardware rolls on handsome aluminum Knock-Off wheels which spin 215/70R15 BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial redline tires around patriotic spinner centers.
ULTIMATE NOSTALGIA
Slip into this Vette's low-slung cockpit and settle on one of its comfortable buckets. Those seats are likely the same shade they left the factory, however, their surfaces were fully recovered in fresh leather (an option in 1963) during the car's detailed restoration. From the driver's perch, fully refurbished gauges show like fine jewelry and bleed onto their bordering panels in a march toward a center-mount clock, modern air conditioning and a retro Delco radio. Below that clock, a small console anchors a short shifter between clean carpet, narrow mats and ornate door panels. And in front of the driver, a satin-spoke steering wheel laps a classy cross-flag emblem.
The market certainly has no shortage of shiny C2 Corvettes, but sympathetically revitalized pieces like this classy one year only split-window coupe are becoming an increasing rarity. With its reliable 327, retrofitted 5-speed and masterful restoration, this Chevy is a living embodiment of classic car glory. Looking for a fresh way to empower your Saturdays? Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and claim this incredible Sting Ray!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
