LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe L72 427/425hp
The popularity of the mid-year Corvette can be traced back to many factors including the unmistakable styling, copious engine options and a wide array of available options to make for either a high performance or a powerful touring car. Originally offered with an array of 327ci V8s, it was the 1966 introduction of the 427ci V8 that would truly earn the 'Vette its 'King of the Road' status. The L72 427 CI V-8 was essentially the previous year’s L78 396/425 HP engine bored out to its original NASCAR-mandated 427 CI limit. To avoid condemnation from horsepower critics, it was deceptively rated at the same 425 HP as the L78, but at the artificial limit of 5,600 RPM. At its true redline of 6,500 RPM, it delivered upwards of 450 HP, with torque peaking at 460 lb-ft at 4,000 RPM. With the improvements bestowed on its brakes and suspension since the C2's introduction, it proved to be a potent combination of power and agility; something that Zora himself said he would be proud to take and show off in Europe.
This is a well-equipped L72 427/425 HP big-block coupe finished in factory Silver Pearl retains its very original factory silver vinyl interior. Nicely optioned with side exhaust, telescoping steering wheel, numbers matching 4-speed manual transmission, complete with its 427 “AZ” 3.55:1 Posi-traction rear end, backup lights, Soft Ray-tinted glass, AM/FM radio with power antenna and Kelsey Hayes finned-aluminum knock-off wheels. The car shows in very original condition throughout with recent exterior repaint in its striking factory color.
This outstanding 1966 Corvette has some of the most desirable options in today’s Corvette collecting community L72 big-block engine, great color combination, side exhaust and Kelsey Hayes knock-off wheels. This great mid-year example is waiting to be enjoyed on the open road!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
