LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette

Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the now classic Corvette sports car introduced late in the 1953 model year and produced through 1962. It is commonly referred to as the "solid-axle" generation, as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray. In 1961, the rear of the car was completely redesigned with the addition of a "duck tail" with the now iconic four round lights. This taillight treatment would continue for all following model years of Corvettes. The most noticeable exterior changes for 1962 were the removal of the side cover chrome trim. Without the trim bright work, it was not possible to offer the coves in a contrasting color so for the first time since 1955 Corvettes were offered in solid colors only. A blacked-out grille and ribbed chrome rocker panel molding were new. The standard features now included an electric clock, dual exhaust, tachometer, heater and defroster, seat belts, outside rear-view mirror and windshield washer. This was also the last year for features like the wrap around windshield, convertible-only body style, trunk lid and exposed headlamps that did not reappear for many decades.

One of those increasingly rare Corvettes is offered here in the classic combination of Tuxedo Black with a Red interior and White soft top. It was produced on 7/13/1962 according to its NCRS Shipping Data Report. Presented in beautifully restored and detailed condition, it incorporates the matching-numbers 327 engine and numbers-matching four spend manual transmission. The exterior paintwork is beautiful as the Tuxedo Black will capture the eye of any passerby. The impressive look of the gloss black is heightened by Chevrolet's decision to go to the single colour for the model year after year of those classic contrasting coves. All the panel fit and alignment is true to factory standards and provides an overall great first impression to any admirer. Under the hood, the engine compartment is very well detailed, extremely neat and clean throughout. The undercarriage shows the same quality and attention to detail shown in the rest of the restoration.

This incredible Corvette has been judged by some of the best Corvette experts. Due to its high level of restoration, it has earned multiple NCRS Top-Flights awards. Cincinnati OH scored 97.8, Bowling Green KY scored 98.5, Lake Placid NY scored 99.4, Knoxville TN scored 97.6. It has also achieved Bloomington Gold Certification, NCRS Performance Verification and prestigious Duntov Mark Of Excellence Award which attests to the quality and correctness of this Corvette. Also included in the sale are the owner's manual, NCRS shipping data report and Corvette owner protection plan.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
