Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to present this Bloomington Gold "Survivor Award" winning 1992 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1! If someone asked you what America's sports car was its hard not to say the Corvette. Debuting in 1953 and spanning 8 generations uninterrupted, simply saying it's a success is an understatement. What we have here is a generation 4 or commonly known as a C4. Launching in 1983 the C4 saw a massive overhaul and prices rose and sales declined. Chevrolet had to do something mid generation to revitalize the brand and spark more sales and the C4 ZR1 came to life. That is what we have here today. Approaching this car, the Polo Green Metallic paint is very nice and really pulls you in and shows off the lines of the car very well. The interior is finished in Saddle Tan leather and is in fair, unrestored condition. There were only 39 ZR1's assembled for 1992 with this configuration of options, adding to the collectability of this rare survivor. Under the hood is what the ZR-1 is known for, the 4-Cam 32 valve 5.7L LT5 V8 engine that produces 375hp! It also has 16 new injectors, recent serpentine belt, plugs and wires (10/2020). Power is routed to the ground through a 6-speed manual transmission that shifts silky smooth. When the C4 ZR-1 launched its capabilities were touted as being nice, but nobody was ready when it was tested and set 7 new international and world records! A legend was truly born! With only 41.5k miles clocked on the odometer this sweet, true survivor is barely broken in and completely unmolested. This ZR-1 was also a 2014 NCRS judged 98.5 vehicle. Car comes with 2 different Targa tops. Body matching and tinted glass. The current owner is a Corvette collector and has had her for over 10 years. Carfax is clean with no accidents. Whether you are a corvette enthusiast, or looking to grow your collection, or potentially start one, this all original ZR-1 would be a nice addition as an automotive icon! Options on the ZR-1 are: A/C, Power Steering/Brakes/Windows/Locks/Seats, Leather Interior, AM/FM/CD Radio, Targa Top x2, and alloy Wheels and Radial Tires. NCRS paperwork to be included.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
