Chevrolet El Camino 454 CID V8 1972

General description : Up for sale in our Detroit showroom is this highly collectable 1972 Chevrolet El Camino SS. The El Camino concept was created in 1959 in response to the popular Ford Ranchero and had a successful but brief 2 year run returning as the second generation model in 1964. This third generation El Camino SS is equipped with a numbers matching 454cid engine that you can catch a glimpse of when the cowl induction hood allows more air flow into the engine bay. Backing up this big block is a 400 Turbo transmission delivering power to a highway friendly 3.23 rear end gear ratio. It is becoming more unusual to see El Caminos on the road than ever before and they are prized by collectors for not only the great look but functionality of having a full pickup bed and the driving habits of a car. This example is one of the nicest you are sure to come across and features a very high quality paint job finished in Mulsanne Blue Metallic with Black SS stripes on the hood. The factory rally wheels have been treated during the rotisserie restoration and look absolutely stunning. On the inside you will notice an original interior with the addition of a modern stereo to bring this El Camino into the future. The black vinyl buckets look great in contrast to the Mulsanne Blue. Options on this El Camino include power steering, power brakes, AM/FM CD stereo, SS Steering wheel, horseshoe shifter and Air Conditioning. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
