Chevrolet El Camino 5.0 Liter V8 1985

General description : VERY SOLID & CLEAN EL CAMINO W/ UNDER 34K ORIG MILES! GREAT PAINT, COLD AC! NICE

You won't find many mementos from the '80s that have weathered time more gracefully than this 1985 Chevrolet El Camino SS. It's logged less than 34,000 actual miles during its lifetime, which would be unusually low for a car that debuted at the turn of the millennium, let alone one that first touched asphalt during the Reagan era, and features a solid driving condition to go along with its ultra-crisp appearance.
As the '80s progressed, the country was becoming more and more infatuated with technology and gravitated toward aesthetics that reflected it. Chevy recognized this and updated the design on its distinctive half-truck, half-car accordingly, equipping it with a geometric front grille, rectangular dual twin headlights and bold SS graphics on its doors. Chevy stopped producing these unique cars - precursors to the more truck-like Avalanche that would come later- just two years after this '85 came out, so you won't find many of its counterparts on the road and certainly very few in anything approaching the super clean condition of this one. Its black paint, accented by silver around its lower portion, really looks impressive - even up close, you won't find any glaring blemishes or other imperfections - and it combines with very sharp brightwork, razor sharp emblems and front and back bumpers that have obviously been spared any contact with immovable objects to make it seem like this El Camino arrives at the present directly from a mid-'80s display showroom turntable.
The interior has also withstood time in impressive fashion and, of course, logging what would only be considered around two years' worth of driving by most standards really does yield benefits as far as wear and tear are concerned. The bucket seats feature a mix of red cloth and vinyl and look pretty much as they did when this El Camino first hopped off the assembly line, and the door panels to each side, as well as the clean center console, don't show the discoloration associated with bearing the weight of decades worth of resting arms. The dash area retains its original configuration and also looks great, with burlwood accents that have yet to fade, fully functional, crystal clear gauges and a surprisingly fresh-looking dash pad across the top that shows no cracks. There's plenty of functionality on hand inside as the aftermarket AM/FM/CD player is in good working order, the air conditioning is blowing strong and cold and the sunroof opens and closes without issue. In back, there's a substantial amount of cargo space and it's well protected by the liner on its floor, as well as a snap on cover.
Turn the key to fire up the 5.0 liter V8 sitting under the hood and you'll know right away that this is one classic that's ready for duty just as soon as you bring it home. Topped with a 4-barrel carb and sitting in the middle of a tidy engine compartment, the power plant is still in top form - after all, it's just reaching what most would consider the prime of its life - and teams with a 4-speed automatic transmission whose overdrive gear makes for low-rev driving at highway speeds. Featuring power steering and power brakes, navigation is low-effort with easy stops as this unique vehicle attracts appreciative smiles on its 15" chrome wheels with "SS" centers wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A radials. As expected, the undercarriage has held up very well and shows the expected patina that comes with more than three decades of service, but looks straight and solid.
Offering a level of utility you won't find in ordinary cars, as well as a healthy dose of nostalgia, this 1985 Chevrolet El Camino SS would be a great acquisition for a classic car enthusiast who will appreciate its versatility. Call today.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
