Chevrolet El Camino 1978

General description : For sale in our St. Louis Showroom is a Carmine Red 1978 Chevrolet El Camino. The El Camino is a coupé utility vehicle that was produced by Chevrolet between 1959–60 and 1964–1987. It was introduced in the 1959 model year in response to Ford's successful Ranchero coupé utility and was adapted from a two-door station wagon platform that integrated the cab and cargo bed into the body. The Carmine Red exterior paint has a slight amount of metallic flake that helps it shimmer in the sunlight and looks great. The red cloth interior has been well taken care of and is free from any major wear over the years. Powering this 78’ El Camino is a 350 CID V8 engine with chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. MagnaFlow mufflers were added and provide a nice sound to this small block Chevrolet V8. A 3-speed automatic transmission transfers the muscle to the 10-bolt rear end. The entire suspension was gone through to ensure a smooth ride, most if not all parts were replaced with a few new goodies being added including front and rear Hotchkiss Extreme sway bars, new shocks up front, coil overs added in the rear, upper ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, and upper A arm bushings. The odometer reads 4,187, the actual mileage is unknown, but the odometer is believed to reflect the miles put on the restoration since its completion. Options for this 1978 Chevrolet El Camino include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with CD Player, Cruise Control, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Tilt Wheel, Keyless Entry, Seat Belts, Anti-Theft System, Cloth Interior, Raised White Letter Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. This 1978 El Camino has been gone through and is ready for a new owner to make it their own. It starts right up, runs great and drives wonderfully. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
