Chevrolet El Camino 1966

General description : A coveted big block, 4-speed El Camino, this highly-optioned trucklet is a concours restored classic that's won multiple national awards. Looking for a choice collectible that puts a unique spin on an old school favorite? Take a look at your next obsession!
Assembled at GM's Fremont manufacturing facility in December of 1965, this fully sorted Elco mixes a coveted 396/4-speed drivetrain with a roster of factory options. During the car's ground-up, concours restoration, completed by Whitehall Auto Restorations of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, its body was completely disassembled and massaged into a laser-straight canvas. Once the builders attained better-than-factory panel alignment, correct Sandalwood Tan 2-stage was accented with fresh trim that includes optional bumper guards and an optional remote outside mirror. And presently, this Chevy rolls as a stunning classic that complements multiple Antique Automobile Club of America awards with a roster of Vintage Chevy Club of America honors.
Glance under this Malibu's mirror-slick hood and you'll find 396 cubic inches of dressed big block that follows an L34-specific 'EF' assembly stamp with a correct 3855961 casting number. Behind that 360 horsepower mill, a tough Muncie 4-speed hangs a Muncie (P) assembled on October (10) 14th (14) build stamp behind a correct 3885010 casting number. That transmission twist torque to a requisite GM 12-bolt, which pushes a fully rebuilt suspension that's so fresh it still features bright, reproduction tags. Turns come courtesy of factory power steering. Stops are provided by power-assisted drums. Aluminized exhaust threads cast iron manifolds and aggressive turbo mufflers. And at the corners of the car, 14-inch steelies twist 7.75-14 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls around optional wire wheel covers.
Naturally, this El Camino's thorough restoration included the installation of a correct Medium Fawn and Light Fawn interior. Firm bucket seats, featuring optional power adjustment for the car's driver, stretch correct materials under deluxe belts. An ornate dash frames rebuilt telemetry above factory Cruise Control, factory air conditioning, a Delco AM/FM radio and a 6,000 RPM tachometer. Beneath that dash, a polished shifter rides a stainless-trimmed console, which parallels 2-tone door panels that front optional power windows. And the driver spins an attractive Chevrolet Rally Wheel around a tilting column.
Wrapping an excellent restoration around an athletic drivetrain, this national award-winning Camino is a desirable, well-done collector car. In the market for some cool muscle that's exclusive AND unique? This Chevy is your kind of classic!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
