Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is proud to present this 1968 Chevrolet El Camino! In the late 50s Chevrolet decided to try their hand at making coupe utility vehicle following the success of Ford's Ranchero. As all successes go there is always another that wants a piece of the pie. With that said it wasn't long until Chevy unveiled the El Camino and it was an instant hit selling more its first year than the Ranchero did in its first year, 2 years prior. The El Camino would see 5 generations spanning nearly 25 years!
Approaching this car you can't help but smile. The sharp Aqua Turquoise paint has a great shine and shows her bold angles and lines off well. Removal of the badges, emblems, and door handles give her a nice custom clean-cut look. The 16" American Racing Wheels wrapped in Kumho tires gives her a great stance. A quick glance underneath will tell you this car is more than meets the eye. Updated suspension and completely Rhino lined under her the same as the bed. Buck doesn't stop there as you open the door you will find a two-tone light tan and cashmere colored interior that looks inviting and hardly used. Situated under the hood is a fuel-injected Ramjet 350ci V8 with an estimated 350hp and 400ftlbs of torque per the owner. All that power is at your fingertips through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The build of this car was extensive. Frame was blasted and powder-coated and body was soda blasted and painted. She received all new suspension, new Headman Headers, Magnaflow Exhaust, Master Cylinder, Wheel Cylinders, Brake Lines, Cruise Control, Painless Wiring, added Power Steering, Clutch, Flywheel, Gas Tank, Gauges, Bumpers, Wells, and so much more. She is sporting a new Mosler 12 bolt posi rear end with 3.08 gear ratio for better highway cruising. She received another fresh coat of paint in 2020.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
