Description : Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to present this hot 1987 Chevrolet El Camino. 1987 was the final year for Chevy's little "Sport Ute", which debuted in 1959. This bad boy features a familiar color scheme (especially for NASCAR fans), which is much like Dale Earnhardt debuted on his GM Goodwrench Monte Carlo in 1988: black top over silver lower, separated by red and black pinstripes at the juncture. Similar to, but still different from the 1978 Corvette's black over silver, it continues to be an attractive and recognizable color scheme. The paintwork on this ride is very nicely done, with nary a ripple (or any other glitch) in the finish. It really shows well! The real fun lies in what's been done under the hood, where the original 305 CID V8 has gone the way of the dodo and been replaced by a high performance 383 CID Stroker V8. The pumped-up mouse motor not only puts out some power, it looks good doing it. A big Edelbrock 4BBL carb tops the polished aluminum intake, while ceramic coated Hooker headers take care of scavenging the exhaust into the custom dual exhaust setup, which features stainless steel mufflers. Further dress-up in the engine bay includes aluminum valve covers, a March serpentine belt drive system, and a polished alternator. Since this little "Ute" has been given that 383 "steroid injection", a 4-wheel Disc Brake Conversion has been added, to help haul this pup down from the speeds that you'll forget you've been cruising at. Behind the hot 383 is a 4-speed automatic transmission (most likely a 700R4), so it's still quite highway friendly. Inside, the plush velour on the split bench seat is in good shape (and is as comfy as your Lazy Boy), and the dash, carpet, and headliner all are in fine condition. Additional features and options on this 1987 El Camino include Air Conditioning (converted to R134a and blows cold), AM/FM/Cassette radio, Cloth Seating, Cruise Control, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Steering, Power Windows, Raised White Letter Radial Tires, Seatbelts, and Tilt Steering Wheel. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
