Chevrolet Impala 283 V8 1960

General description : 60 IMPALA AT GREAT PRICE! ENJOY OR TAKE TO THE NEXT LEVEL, 283 V8, PS, PB, A/C!

Yes, the price is right on this 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible. These usually trade hands for close to twice the asking price, so don't expect it to hang around for very long, especially not with a strong 283, A/C, and a classic color combination. Yes, there are reasons why it's so affordable, but none of them will stop you from enjoying this incredible ragtop every chance you get.
The paint is an older repaint and it's starting to show its age, hence the very reasonable price. It still looks great running down the street and it's one of those cars that guys in the hobby call a "ten footer." If you don't need a trailer queen show car, you're going to appreciate the look. Ermine White is always a great choice on a car with fins, even though by 1960, they were considerably smaller than in earlier years. It's a soft white, not a harsh appliance white, and the big Imp wears it extremely well. We love the ornate trim on these cars, especially the jet-like strip on the quarter panels, which has a contrasting black insert that makes the car look a mile long. Chrome and stainless trim are critical on a car like this, so it's nice to see that not only is it completely intact, but in good original condition needing little more than a good polishing to get back into shape. As we said, there's a reason why this car is affordable, but it's far from a project.
The gorgeous black and white houndstooth interior is pure 1960s style that looks fantastic. Once onlookers get done gawking, they'll realize that it's mostly original in there and that suggest a car that has led a pretty good life. OK, so the door panels are unwinding, but at this price, there's plenty of room for you to get them done and still come out ahead, so don't sweat it. The seat covers are good as-is and the floors are protected by heavy-duty Impala-logo mats. The dash is full of big, round gauges that are likewise original but fully operational, and someone has added A/C under the dash with modern hardware doing the work. There's also an AM/FM/cassette radio in the dash, but is in need of an upgrade for today's entertainment technology. Overhead there's a nice-fitting white power convertible top and the trunk is outfitted with a correct mat and full-sized spare tire with jack assembly.
A 283 cubic inch V8 makes this Imp plenty entertaining to drive. Not intended to be a muscle car, it's impeccably smooth and torquey and makes all the right sounds. Chevy Orange paint gives it the right look under the hood and it has been upgraded with both a modern A/C compressor and an alternator, so someone was looking to drive. It starts easily and has a nice V8 burble from the dual glasspack-style mufflers, and the 2-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission is a bulletproof travelling partner. The chassis is original and unrestored but shows a lifetime in a warm place, and the suspension has that incomparable big car ride that makes American convertibles the ultimate road trip machines. It has both power steering and power brakes, so it remains easy to handle and it sits on beautiful 8.00-14 BFGoodrich wide whites to really make it sparkle.
The price is a bargain and with some TLC this car could be truly spectacular. Drive it while you improve it, earning value while enjoying one of the most iconic cars of the period. Call today!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
