Chevrolet Impala 327 CID V8 1961

General description : For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a beautiful 1961 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe. This 61' Impala is finished in Roman Red with a white accent stripe down the side. The paint and body work on this car are amazing, the paint looks like glass on this straight body. The interior is red and white vinyl with cloth inserts, and looks almost new. Powering this 61' Impala is a 327 CID V8 engine that is mated to a 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission and a Posi-Trac rear end. Very few miles have been enjoyed in this car since the restoration was completed. The Impala was a full-sized passenger vehicle produced by Chevrolet from 1958 to 1985, a short run from 1994 to 1996, and finally from 2000 to the present day. It was Chevrolet's most expensive passenger model up to 1965, and became the best selling automobile in America. The 1961 model year kicked off the 3rd generation of the Impala, a generation that saw a redesign that was more trim and boxy that the previous generation. The Sport Coupe was a 1961 only design, and became known as the "BubbleTop" Impala. It was a rarely ordered car, which makes it tough to find running around today. Interesting tid bit for 1961, it was the last year a station wagon bore the name Nomad, and the first year of the SS option. The odometer on this particular Impala reads 9,373, but the actual mileage is unknown. Options for this 1961 Chevrolet Impala include: AM/FM Radio with CD Player, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Vinyl and Cloth Interior, Seat Belts, Hub Caps, and White Wall Radial Tires. This is a very clean example of a 61' Impala Sports Coupe, one that is not often seen, and certainly not to this level. This Impala is ready to impress any and all onlookers that come across it. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
