Chevrolet Impala 348 V8 1958

General description : Description
With just 6,000 miles logged since its restoration, this 1958 Chevrolet Impala captures a significant moment in Chevy's design history - it displays the styling cues that made the Chevy sedans of the mid-'50s such pacesetters and yet also represents a move toward the future with its lower profile and elongated stance. As if its appearance wasn't a strong enough draw on its own, this classic still wears its original color and features its original powerplant under the hood.
The exterior tells you right away that this car is something special. Its Snowcrest white shade is its original color and it's been skillfully refreshed to show-quality form, sitting under a strong clearcoat providing a great shine. While the front bumper is a little more refined than those you would find in its predecessors, this '58 still sports an impressive collection of chrome and all of it is in very clean condition - from the revamped front grille that positions a pair of dual running lights directly under the dual headlights, to the lengthy stretches of trim on the sides that merge with additional trim extending back to the taillights. This well-restored car shows a lot of attention to detail - both the headlights and taillights sport fresh looking lenses, you'll find clear glass surrounded by new looking rubber seals on all four sides of the cabin, and the body lines from front to back are impressively tight and even. The doors open and close very smoothly and every manual window rolls up and down without issue.
There's no let up to the awesomeness inside the doors, as this Impala happens to possess a world class interior. It's got a museum quality look to it while combining custom aesthetics and a precise, factory-looking installation. The bench seating in both front and back has been re-covered in red vinyl with contrasting striped cloth inserts that look outstanding over the fresh red carpeting below. Beyond the eye-catching, impressively detailed two-tone steering wheel, the dash area retains its factory look while featuring a level of functionality and cleanliness you don't often see in even the most precisely restored classics. Every gauge in the cluster is perfectly readable and functional, every control knob and switch sports a new look and sits securely in place - only the passenger side clock and the AM radio at the center of the dash will require attention to get them back up and running. The trunk area in back is generously proportioned and meticulously restored - even the full-size spare sitting in its upright position looks new.
Things look very factory-correct and tidy under the hood. The 348 cubic inch V8 inside the compartment is the very same one this '58 left the plant with and its painted red block contrasts perfectly with its black surroundings. It features one of Chevy's more notable engineering advances - its tri-power carburetor configuration. It's no mere novelty - the three 2-barrel carbs working in tandem to efficiently feed the engine produced an impressive 280 horsepower and represented a top tier mechanical option when this Impala was new. Newly rebuilt, the powerplant is in very good form, firing up promptly and running smoothly as it combines with the same 3-speed manual transmission it began life with. The undercarriage is unusually clean for any classic, let alone one that made its debut 60 years ago. Fresh bushings installed on the control arms and tie rod ends help produce a quiet ride and secure power steering as this super-sharp Chevy rules the road on its stock Chevy wheels that feature very sharp bowtie-branded hubcaps and are wrapped with white wall tires for an authentic vintage look.
With its impressive condition combining with an unusually high level of originality, this 1958 Chevrolet Impala has few peers - on the road or anywhere else. Call today!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
