Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1964 Chevrolet Impala. The Chevrolet Impala is a full-size sedan built by the Chevrolet division of General Motors introduced for the 1958 model year. Chevrolet's most expensive passenger model through 1965 had become the top-selling automobile in the United States, competing against the Ford Galaxie 500 and the Plymouth Fury when full-size models dominated the market. This competition spilled over into various racing venues, including drag racing. This 1964 Chevy Impala 409/400hp is a pristine example of this era. This Impala is an original un-restored car with the numbers matching drive train still intact, with the only exception being a 3.70 gear set replacing the original 4.56 unit. The has been repainted once and it was to the factory color. The odometer currently only shows 79,060 miles on it. This car is originally from Oklahoma and doesn't show any signs of rust. All sheet metal is original to the car. The original factory Muncie shifter and high Redline tachometer, an option for the high horsepower 409's only, is still in the car, with the rest of interior being original to the car. This is a rare car, and productions numbers suggest that less than 1000 were produced. Numbers for this car have been verified and are available upon request. Options on this 1964 Impala include; AM radio, Cloth/Vinyl interior, Seat Belts and Bias Ply Tires. This 1964 Chevrolet Impala is offered by our Louisville Showroom and can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at http://www.GatewayClassicCars.com. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
